The quest for 180 continues
Gearing up for another half mile event in October. Quick run down on the car

So far ar the last two events I’ve gone a best of 175 with not so great weather and traction. To prepare for this go around I will be pulling more weight out of the car and try different methods on the runway i.e. bigger burnout, short shifting 1-2 & 2-3. Figured I make a post since this section is slowly dying lol
Chime in with any input and if you have gonna faster with a ti blower. I’m assuming all the fast blower cars are big blower cars.

Now that these cars are cheap enough for the Honda bros to get their hands on them all C5 activity will shift to Facebook and Instagram unfortunately. I'll still be sticking to the forums as it is much easier to figure out who has real experience and who is talking out of their ***. It's also easier to search for old information on the forums which is extremely helpful.

I doubt pulling weight will make much of a difference. At your power level, and with most half mile events not having any sort of prep, some weight for traction would probably help. I think getting into 2nd and 3rd sooner will help a lot, especially if you can start putting the power down well then. Even still, I'd think with decent DA you should be pretty close to your goal

yeah it sucks... between GM leasing out the air strip they were using and the crash in New Orleans last year I think that did them in, it seems like they are only doing Florida now which is where they are based out of

Yeah Wannagofast seems to have all but died off. Blake almost seems more concerned with his youtube videos as a way to make money now over trying to fight to put on the events. I'm still not convinced the accident in New Orleans wasn't avoidable on his part, but I guess we're not here to point fingers. My group of friends who was into the half mile stuff pretty heavy for a couple years has mainly shifted back to drag racing due to the lack of events

Do 1/2 mile.
The Texas Mile has 1/2 times but its pricey

Lots of other states do 1/2 mile as well. There is the Michigan mile, but I think the safety restrictions are a bit absurd. Nebraska has their Sandhills Challenge event that has 1/2 and 1 Mile events in it, but you need to get approved to participate. There is also a 1/2 Mile in Rantoul, IL every year that I go to. There were 2 events a year, now they are down to 1. It's hosted by Omega Motorsports, who does several different events around the country.

a few of us had talked about a private event in another thread, I'm definitely down to do that if we can actually get something together... sorry for the thread hijack lol
