Need to reduce under hood heat!!!! New hood time?
My car runs well. No over heat, not hot. 85 Degrees today with ac on making pulls and never got over 202. The interior how ever get hot as ****. I thought cause the car was black it was the problem. Nope. Was out last night in 72 degree weather and the interior was hot. Like uncomfortable hot. I already have coated headers, X pipe, upgraded tunnel plate with heat shield and Vettenuts full interor heat reduction kit. There is just too much heat trapped under the hood. I have no interest in the hood vents. I was looking at hoods as I want to set my car apart. I was looking at the RK sport low rise and the MCM copy cat. Does anyone have experience with this? The heat on the interior just sucks.

I had an original MCM hood on my 99 with a Maggie and Dewitts Radiator with SPAL fans...car still ran hot during the summer in Florida with the AC on, probably because I had it lowered but still. I ended up modding the front plate filler and bumper to allow ait flow through the front and that helped tremendously. It also pretty much killed me having any heat during the winter but thats another story Anyway a hood swap isn't going to do much to resolve your issue it may be a bit cooler under the hood but if interior cabin heat is your issue I don't think it will help. . Do you have window tint? the heat reflective type does a LOT to reduce interior cabin heat.

Tint isnt going to help. The heat is coming from the engine bay. It need to escape. Cowl hoods generally allow heat to escape, and the MCM is a heat extractor style hood from my understanding.

well you said cabin heat and I don't kno wwhere you live but here in Florida if the sun is shining the interior heats up quickly and adds to any heat you may be getting otherwise. As I said I had an MCM hood and the Dewitts SPAL fans which blow like a Cat 5 hurricane and I still had heat issues but then again I had that Maggie on top...you may find that a SPAL setup would do what you need without a hood OR you can do it in addition to a hood. The fact that I had that Maggie on there may have had something to do with less heat exiting the top as opposed to a car that had more open area. Hopefully you get some more input....you can ask Yello95 how his car is doing heat wise as he is the new owner of my MCM hood. I know he had it painted to match his car but he never really discussed any heat issues/reduction etc but I am sure he would be happy to share any info he has. Kenny is a super nice guy.

You're talking about under hood heat...but keep saying interior ?
Do you mean the a/c isnt working to keep the interior cool, or are you referring to underhood heat ?

The heat being generated from the motor is getting into the interior making me and passengers hot. I pop the hood and **** ton of heat escapes. I was thinking I need to relieve the heat somehow. I plan to add more thermal barries to the trans tunnel and firewall later, but I’d still like to reduce the heat under the hood. Air conditioning cools the car but I should have to run it at night to keep cool when it’s 70 degrees

Ahh right, some air management needed then. Usually the air inlet for cabin is well isolated from engine compartment ? Or could there be some means of hot engine compartment air getting into this inlet ?
Some vents mid hood area in a low pressure area to encourage air to escape would probably help a lot.

the anderson composites mcm copy looks and fits good from what I have seen, the carbon creationz is junk... I almost pulled the trigger on the anderson hood but I was reluctant because no one I have seen has really tested them at high speeds... the last thing I would want is the hood folding up or separating at 150+

I know those popular vents would do the trick but I’m not of fan of them. It’s like it funnels through the trans tunnel and heat up the cabin. It’s obvious I make too much power lol

Most of that stuff is crap. I like the mcm copy too. Looks good and should remove heat. Maybe I’ll buy one at keep it to 148

I've got a Caravaggio hi rise hood, which is identical to the RK Sport, and neither are a heat-extractor design. The MCM is.
Since adding the hood and Tigershark front bumper, my car will sit at idle for 15-20 minutes, with a/c on in 90deg heat, and engine temps average 205-208deg.

The Blackdog Speed Shop hood is a functional thing of beauty, but Lord have mercy is it expensive!

^This. In my experience, if you are going to buy any aftermarket body component you are much better off splurging on a very high quality piece or you will just end up paying a body shop astronomical amounts of money just to get it lined up somewhat acceptable.

I saw that. Watched his YouTube video. I’d like to know how it handles high speed, which he doesn’t do.
Once the haltech is installed, I’m going to drive around with the hood off and see if that solves the problem. I’m sure it will but if it doesn’t that makes I have other areas of heat management to attend to
