While waiting on the tuner, figured I'd go ahead and replace the rear section of my exhaust, as the mufflers had puked their guts. Off with the old, on with the replacements. Except they refuse to clamp down now. Great.

These old mufflers were absolutely trashed.
Tips too. Absolutely caked in carbon and pitting.
Looking at the replacements, even with the car tuned right and not fouling things up nearly as bad, I'm not expecting them to live a long time. If they do puke their innards, I'm going to cut the floor and move to a C6 exhaust on the car.

Got a buddy to come by and tack weld everything into place then we clamped it down. Pretty happy with the outcome.

Too late now, but a trick you can use is to clamp a board to the tips to keep them perfectly aligned then use a floor jack to jack them in place exactly where you want them... then torque/weld everything.

You can see the wood is being supported by a jack. The blue tape I measured to be on centerline side to side from each edge.

Well for the past couple of weeks I've been trying daily to get something set up with the tuner whom I want to use for this setup. Unfortunately, actually making contact is spotty and has lead nowhere so far. I'm out of town on vacation Saturday for nearly a week, then July 7th again for work for a month. Looks like nothing is going to happen until then. I'm bummed, I really wanted to fire the car up and get it checked over before leaving.

Good news. Got a firm date scheduled with my tuner. Bad news is it's August 16th. Ok news is nothing was going to happen before I get home on August 3rd, so I gave myself a couple of weeks to go over it really good one more time before getting a baseline tune done.

I made a lot of power through mine (around 1000whp), but it's too quiet in the turbo noise/lope area and too loud in the drone stuff like 1500 and lower. I'm going to cut mine open and try something different. Did LG charge much for the new mufflers?

*Edit* @slow ride I just saw the question on the mufflers. I think I paid $350 for them as a courtesy from LG after I showed them pics of what was going on. I got new mufflers and tips.

Ok, so after a six week hiatus between Vacation and some training work in South Carolina, I'm back on it. Yesterday was my first day off and the 16th is fast approaching (we're actually towing the car out on the 15th). Just cleaning up minor stuff at this point, but what I wanted to take care of since I have a little time was the banged up cowl.
So, yesterday I picked up some .032 aluminum sheet and went to town with what I had to work with. And so far, I'm pretty happy with the result (for not having a brake, or any actual metal forming tools).
I'm ok with the gnarly looking contouring because once painted black and panel bonded into place, it really won't be seen. However......because I feel like I may end up putting some aftermarket rails on the car at some point (I have a gut feeling the 97-98 rails aren't going to support what the car will be capable of, but I'm going to see what they do)........I need to keep a way to get some clearance again. Talked it over with a buddy last night, and I may redo the channel on the smaller complete patch and just use the aluminum for the front channel, then use that soft roof flashing where all the contouring is. That way even once bonded, if I need to make some room in the future I should be able to within reason.

I will be curious how the little sumps help you out. Did you have any smoking issues without them at all? If you look at my build you can see my kit is a bit like a mix of APS and TTIX ideas and I get a little puff of smoke on off throttle transitions from time to time. Tilting turbos is not really ideal, but at the time it worked out so I did it.

I was getting some smoking coming off of higher boost when I snapped the throttle shut, and sometimes after it's sat a while on initial cold start. The sumps are more for the cold start stuff, and the PCV delete and breather tank were hopefully going to address the high vacuum situations coming off higher boost. The motor isn't that old (it went in back in 2009 but only has......maybe 15K miles I think, and it was built for the boost.

The bonding has commenced. Painting it afterwards obviously.
Also, I didn't like how loose the meth nozzle was before just being pushed into the coupler. So I widened the lower part of the hole to a very tight fit to the outer diameter of the bend and screwed the nozzle into it from the inside. Now it's FIRMLY in place and shouldn't be any risk of the pressure forcing it out.

Pretty happy with this. Not that noticeable with everything in place, but I'm still going to paint it. Unfortunately, the cowl is cracked and warrants replacing. It's all super stiff again and ready to go at least.

Nice and simple fix. I may do something similar to my cowl except with a trapdoor of some sort so I can open it up and change the oil pressure sender through the cowl.

I would have done the same but my OPS is on the turbo distribution block next to the passenger head so it's out in the open anyway.
