New motor from TX Speed with same old A&A superhcarger
Stock motor broke the top of one piston (one chunk above the top ring), so I figured I needed a new motor. I bought a LS2 designed for boost from TX Speed. It's 9:1 compression instead of the LS6 10.5:1, plus their heads, cam, etc. Installed the new motor with my same A&A CARB approved supercharger. Took it back to the same tuner I have used before. Attached are the comparison results of my original LS6 vs the TX Speed LS2. I know all dynos read differently but for comparison purposes this is the same dyno, same operator, same SAE corrected. It did a little better than I expected.

It's the standard A&A kit from several years ago. I think its Si, they only have one that is CARB approved for CA. Standard 3.8" pulley. Nothing fancy.

I am sure there is a reason, but I'm not an engine builder.
First thing that popped up with a google search: https://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbo...tio_with_boost

And many these days would say that CR is far too low, it'll never work, it'll be a dog...etc etc
Nope, it'll work great, give a ton of safety and have lots of room to grow safely too !

But if you are limited by the Supercharger (i.e. can't pulley down anymore due to CARB) would it not be better to run at least at the same comp ratio as stock? It's not like boost is going to increase with better heads and cam...

And typically in areas where CARB approval is required, fuel tends to be crap ? I've seen posts where some guys say they only get 91.
no doubt yes he could run it higher.....I'd be taking the CARB plates/ID tags etc off that blower and sticking a YSi on it lol

Though I’m sure it would have picked up with more compression; this is a great example of letting your power adder and a more refined induction system do its job! Excellent results and great Job!

Then you would take the YSI off and go twin turbo!

Nice improvement!
Texas-Speed motors are good stuff. My C5 has had one running in it since 2009 (LS3 based 377 9.25:1 SCR Twin Turbo setup).
