Default ATI- Blow Off Valve

When I let off after going WOT, the BOV seems to flutter quite a bit. Isn't it just supposed to release all the built up pressure?

If it's a flutter sound then the valve might not be opening. The air will make a fluttering sound when it's pushed back through the spinning supercharger blades.

How would I tell if it's backwards? Right now when I let off it sounds like; pst, pst, pst, etc. repeatedly at a fast rate.

Hmm, without a manual in front of me let me see if I can explain the way they are installed...

The BOV orientation has the vacuum diaphram of the unit on the passanger side of the car or closest to the t-connection of the intercooler plumbing. I seem to remember the instructions showing that specific orientation. Also may want to make sure there are no kinks or holes in the vacuum line back towards the t-connection attached to the booster vacuum plumbing. Hope this helps... :)

when looking at the anti surge valve the diaphram should be on the on the inside of the connection. In other words the diaphram is offset on the metal tubing. The Diaphram should be offset to the middle of the car.

IMO, the Surge Valve that comes with the kit is not that good. I have a new one coming this week. I have had the same problems as you with surging when off the throttle... I will keep you posted how the new one works.

Maybe I have it backwards... just check the installation manual for orientation... agree with vetterdstr that BOV could stand improvement :)

Interesting, the long tube for the filter was already connected to mine in the box, so I just went with that orientation. After reading this thread and the manual again, it says that the head of the bolt that retains the butterfly to the shaft should be closest to the intercooler tubing.

Have not tested mine yet under heavy load (waiting for tuning), but it looks like I may have it reversed.

Youre confusing it with a turbo blow off valve...pete, dont worry, everything is fine, the ati anti surge valve puts off a flutter sound, and not a sharp PSSHHTT like a turbo BOV...I ASSURE YOU!

Peter,
Pull your car up on ramps, remove the filter on the end of the hose connecting
to the blow off valve start your car the blow off valve should be open
the valve only closes when the engine is starting to get boost as soon as you
let your foot off the gas and the blow off valve sees a vaccume it will open making a Psss Psss Pss sound.

Mine does the same thing.
