ECS users please stop in :)
so i been playing around with my car and just plain out want more power, i just got it off the dyno today (re-cammed) the car it feels better but i've been wanting FI for a while now and thinking its time to setup a budget and do it
the dyno was not working right so i have no numbers but the car should be in the mid 400's btr stg 2 n/a cam, 2.5 prc heads, ported fast 92mm full bolt'ons, rpm lv5 m12, rpm c6z diff upgrades with 3.73 gear, monster stg 2 clutch
i daily drive this car weather permitting want to know...
1.) how reliable is the ECS kits?
2.) how much boost can the stock bottom end handle?
3.) whats a realistic rwhp gain from it?
also any do's or donts? if you dont mind what did it cost you for yours? the shop told me the kit $5,500 install $800 tune $500 = $6800 but i'm thinking another $2000 for well we should do this or you need that
thanks

1.) how reliable is the ECS kits? Search. As reliable as any others. Theyve been doing this a long time.
2.) how much boost can the stock bottom end handle? Search. Depends on which blower you go with, tune, meth, and how long you want it to last.
3.) whats a realistic rwhp gain from it? Search. depends on blower choice etc.
4.) Call Chris at ECS..... Good guy.

1.) how reliable is the ECS kits? Pretty good, I've only had one issue and that was my own doing. Any questions you have Doug or Chris are there to answer.
2.) how much boost can the stock bottom end handle? I was running 12.5 on my stock ls6 bottom end with ECS 2200-SL kit.
3.) whats a realistic rwhp gain from it? It depends on what blower you are going with 1500, 2200,2200r etc. I made 700rwhp and 63xtq with the 2200 with the restrictor plate in. I gained over 200rwhp
I would consider adding
Alky Meth Kit
Fuel System
Clutch
Tires

I installed 1500 novi ECS kit on my c6 this fall. I did the install myself. Got in on the labor day sale they had and bought it for $4600. BaP came with the kit. I did spend another 75.00 on the racetronic wiring for my fuel pump. I also bought a used HP tuner setup and SPX wideband. I got a base tune from ECS to get me going and then I paid another 500 for dyno tuning.
Was able to put down 579rwhp without meth.
Mine is a daily driver and had the same concerns you have. I have made numerous trips in the car without issue. The car drives completely stock unless I am getting on it and its over 3000 rpm. I still have the stock clutch and am running Michelin Pilots. At this power level on these tires aren't much fun if you drive aggressively. 1st and 2nd gear will blow the tires away at will. On a strong 3rd gear pull, tires will usually break loose around 70mph. I am sure once I get better tires, the clutch will start slipping.
On a side note, driving responsibly in the rain is not an issue either.

I've had their kit for about eight years. Not sure the miles on it but I just drove it from NY to CA. Didn't give it a thought.

Havent dynoed it in a long long time.
I think I have broken 1 belt in all these years. and that was my fault, I went a few hundred passes on it without even looking at it. Car has been awesome the whole time. Just like ECS.
Car went 9.16 @ 148, that was good enough for me. still gets 22mpg. Had it out yesterday. Over 2000 passes at the track, only has 35000 on it. Ive been trailering to the track. Car had about 6-7 on it when kit was installed, then came the converter, then came the cam and meth, then came another rear, and another rear, and a trans, etc.... then fuel system and more boost, currently slowing it down...
