Default Mcleod street twin vs mantic 9000

Mantic street twin rated for 1200hp and the mantic rated for 1010ft lbs. Looking for inputs on who thinks what is better.

Going to be a single turbo 5.3 making around 800 wheel. Doing some street dig racing (track is to far) and getting into half mile event.

The Mantic twin is perfect for your level, it's the only clutch we have used for almost five years now.

I'll be making 800 on a 5.3 right now and hope to get a built 6.0 in the winter and make almost 1000 wheel hp. Would it still be the right clutch for the futurr

You are still within the rated TQ level for the twin, but near the end of the line. The triple would be a better bet for longevity, but much more expensive.
Really depends if you are a drag racer and launching hard or not.

Drag racing isn't really an option. Cecil is 2 hrs away and so is MIR. I wanna get into half mile racing but I'll only be running r888.

From a quick search the mantic 7000 is their triple disk clutch? It's only rated to 970 tq??

ACT's do twin organics that'll easily handle your goals.

If you dont intend to drag race with very hard launches, I see little reason to get a puck style clutch.

Modern puck's do drive pretty smoothly, but when you go back to organic, you just realise how smooth a clutch really should be

I believe the 7000 is designed for racing only. The 7000 is a triple 7.25" clutch. The 9000 is normally a twin 9" clutch. The triple Doug is referring to is a triple 9" sold through ECS exclusively.

I love my twin 9000. Let me know if you want to take it for a spin to feel the pedal feel. I know you have driven a car with a 9000 before and thought the pedal was very heavy but that is not the case with mine at all.

Dont think I'd fancy a 9" triple unless it was a full carbon.

That's a lot of weight spinning on the input shaft that the synchros need to work against when changing gear.

IMO organic clutches wear out to quickly, have you driven a Mantic cerimettalic clutch? They really do feel like most other organic clutches. Very smooth and even pedal feel. I may have sold 2-3 organic Mantic clutches, but they were for car show people.

There is a puck style option, but I only recommend that to avid drag racers, pedal quality and moment of inertia does suffer, but it really just feels like most other aftermarket clutches do.

Correct, the 7000 series triple is for road racing, not what I would recommend here at all.

The weight of the triple is less then a stock clutch, I don't have the weight in front of me but it's not heavy. Separation on shifts is great, literally one of the best clutches I have ever driven. Hence why it's the only clutch we have used for the last five years.

You should drive one if you get the chance, I think it would sway your opinions.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at picking up a cage and if that falls thru I'll probably be buying a mantic 9000 and see what happens

A friend of mine is selling one if you're interested. He has a thread in the N.E. section.

Here's a link.
