h/c/i or supercharger??
Hey guys, so I'm currently in the middle of piecing together a h/c/I for my 01 z06. I have the cam and fast manifold, I'm just waiting for the heads to be finished and assembled. They're ported/polished 243's with oversized valves and dual springs. As of late I've been tossing around the idea of going the boosted route instead though. I hear great things about the a&a kit, and was wondering if anyone has any input on the kit. I'm torn between keeping my plans or going the a&a route. Anyone who has tried both setups or has any input to help make my decision would be much appreciated! Obviously I know it's ultimately my choice, but before I spend all this money I want to feel like I made the right choice. This is mostly a weekend cruiser and only sees a few thousand miles a year with the occasional track day

Depends on your goal. I ran my C5R block 427 NA for two years making around 520 RWHP, which had started to feel lame around the time the LS7 engined C6 Zs hit the street. I upgraded to an F1C Procharged setup and picked up 200+ RWHP, which put the smile back on my face.
If around 450-500 seems like enough, stick with Plan A. My guess: it won't make you happy for long.

I would consider one thing that no one has mentined yet...learning to drive your car. Since you have much invested into the H/C, why not finish the original plan, learn your car, ;earm thenew power, how to best drive it, and how to enjoy....then when the time comes and you want the next step, add a supercharger to what you have already done.
Just a thought.

450-500 is easily doable via AFR 205 heads, long-tube headers, and a modest 224 cam.
Unless you're looking for 600+ I would stay far away from FI.
I have both a NA 427 combo for road racing and a twin turbo 346 for drag racing.

I would go with a supercharger over H/C/I package as you'll get more HP, better MPG, and much better drivability. We've sold and installed WAY more superchargers than HCI for the reasons above. PLUS a supercharger is easier to install yourself than a HCI. If your interested in a supercharger give me a call and I'll give you a smoking price... and we offer 1 year 0% financing.

I have this exact package. AFR 205 heads, headers, and a 224-228 cam. I have been extremely pleased with it. It is so reliable it's almost unbelievable. I've been running it for 10 years and have done nothing but change the oil and sparkplugs. I have made 100's of passes down the 1/4 mile typically running 123-124 mph.
I had a supercharged car in the past and there were a lot more maintenance/reliability issues to contend with. In my opinion at the 450-500 hp level H/C is the way to go.
