Recommend Drag Radial Sizes
Hello Everyone,
I have a 2002 Z06 with 606 RWHP.
My car has 305/30/19 rear and 265/35/18 front. I'd like to keep these mounted on the wheels for the cooler months but want to buy a set of wheels with drag radials mounted for the Summer months.
So, what size drag radials does everyone recommend for the street?
Thanks,
Garrett

You can run any size that you want, each one will result in different effects.
Most at the track with the C-5's I have seen people use a Z06 front wheel on the back ... a 17" wheel and for a better 60' go with a 16" wheel. I have 15 & 16's with a Hoosier drag radial for track (1/4) but use a street tire for daily driving on the streets.
Do have a set of Mickey Thompson P275/50R15 on Bogart R/t's. Here is the tire some might like to use on the street:

Friend of mine (Josh 2512 on here) has 18/19 combo on C6Z style rims and is running 305/35/19 Nitto NT05R on his A&A coupe 577/510 6 speed. We took it out the other day and it hooks great on the street. Didnt launch it but basically let the clutch out normally and hit it in first and it dead hooked.
I am going a slightly different direction since im on 17/18 C5Z rims. I am going to go with a 295/45/17 Mickey ET street 2 on some spare C5Z fronts. Im also 606rwhp
A 28 inch tire may or may not help you for your uses. I will let others chime in with more experrience with the different sizes.

Peety I don't think you will like that tire at only 600 whp. I am running the same tire on my car and that gearing really kills acceleration under 4k rpm.
Honestly I don't think I would do 28's of any kind under 800 whp.
At 600 whp I had really good luck with my toyo tq. A better option might be the 305-35-18 et streets

We put the 305/35/19 NT05R (27.4 diameter) almost same diameter to the 295/45/17 (27.2 inches) on a friends A&A C5 (577/510) with MN6 trans gearing and less power than me and it seemed to match pretty well. Dead hooked in first and pulled hard through the gears.
My rear street tires are 26.1 diameter and a spin fest in 1st, 2nd you really have to peddle and shift quick, 3rd on a warm day they hook well 2nd is pretty good too. These MT's are for mostly the street and some test n tune etc maybe. Low rolls like 20 in 1st or 40 in 2nd is the main area I was looking for on them. The plan to maybe do a half mile some time would give me a few more MPH in 4th without having to shift to 5the right at the end.
I played with this for a bit for 1/2 mile mph:
http://www.onlineconversion.com/bigger_tires.htm
Find MPH conversion
6700 RPM 3.42 Dif Trans Ratio 1 (4th gear) 26.1 Tire = 152.17
27.2 Tire=158.59
6800 Would get me 160 (My current rev limiter). My estimated goal based off my power would be 152-160 depending on conditions.
What are your thoughts?

So, Z06 gears with 18" wheel in the rear is optimum for acceleration?

Thanks Guys. Glad I stuck with the 27's. I thought people preferred the longer gearing in the MN6 and TR6060 once supercharged vs the MN12.
Specs on the Mickey 295/45/17 below:
I want to be able to use 1st gear without killing trap speed in 4th. I'll report back. Sorry to kinda Hi jack your thread ggroller but figured were were in same situation

Even at 840 who with my turbo car. I noticed the 3-4 shift falling off bad. That was 3:15s and 28s. Not on 27.5 with the tr6060 and 3:42s it doesn't happen and rips much harder.

Well I got the 295/44/17 Mickeys on today and took a drive..... Dead hooked first. It rips through first fast with traction. I've never really experienced 600wheel in first until today and it feels great. I did notice more sway etc in the radials but that was expected.
Gonna plastidip these all black. Not a fan of the silver lip on rear only.

What size wheel/ tire is on the front of the car?

It was pretty warm (80 or so) which helps
Id be curious to try a slightly shorter version such as a 26 or so if i don't increase the power but so far i'm very happy with the 27inch. I only had time for a short drive and wanted to make sure they felt good with no rubbing etc.
My fronts are stock c5z size 265/40/17
Next to my normal 295 street tire

Yes sir. My normal tire is 295/35/18 which is 26.1 inches tall. The Mickey is 295/45/17 which is 27.2 inches tall the larger sidewall is the primary reason not the rim size.
The taller tire will give you more mph per gear and will ultimately lower your overall ratio in the differential etc. This can help higher hp cars get more speed per gear and have to shift less. On the other hand it would not accelerate quite as fast and would not be recommended for a car under say 500 or so rwhp.
There is much more that goes into it and i will let the others chime in from here. AJROTHM would be a good advisor.
I would recommend you getting a 26-27inch tire with 600 wheel. Wish I had another set with 26 inch Drag radials to do a back to back comparision to my 27's but for now i am very happy with the results! Milan a 305/35/18 would be a great comparison. Which tires are running next sir?
A 28inch tire is way to big for most under 900+HP from what ive read.

You're welcome man. Btw your street tire being a 305/30/19 is around 26.2 inches ( based off Nitto Invo 305/30/19 specs)
You blow too much up to worry about tires LMAO jk jk Your builds are nuts. Can't wait to see what you come up with next time sir Thanks for the tip on the 295 Mickeys

I say at <700 whp go for Toyo TQ drag radial or MT ET street in 305-35-18, for slightly less traction but to preserve cornering ability I would go Toyo R888
