Default Why no turbos?

May be a stupid question but after looking at the prices difference between SC and turbo systems why is it that I have yet to see anyone running a turbo or even twin turbo system?

There are plenty of C5/C6's with turbo's on them. Some are kits and some are custom, they are just not as "common" as a blower. I would guess due to the much more involved installation.

Generally speaking they're more expensive of a setup. Also they can be more difficult for the average guy to "bolt on", but the kits are available.

We have kits for the C5 and C6 here:

Go Twin, easier install in my opinion, dont have to worry about exhaust crossover, muffler shop can do the piping (cheap),Fuel system & tune is the biggest expense. Unless you want high $ turbos.
It can be done cheaper & you dont have to worry about the pain of belt slippage w/= buying belt after belt, Unless you go cog drive but you dont even want to start down that road in a vette. You could turbo your car, do tranny/diff mods & go on vacation for the same money. (maybe not all that,,, really.. but you see what im saying.) Do some research on DIY turbo setups.
Been down the blower route and back. Dont get me wrong I LOVE my ProCharger, But if you dont want to drop the cash for a 8 Rib or Cog Drive setup save your self some $ ,frustration & time. Go Turbo.
My $.02

I was hoping this might bring some Turbo guys out. It's not that I haven't looked hard enough cause honestly i haven't really looked but then again I haven't looked for SC cars either. I was just saying that in comparison to the SC car which it just seems like every time I see C5 that I like it turns out to have a SC on it. So from my perspective it appears like everybody and their brother has their C5 Supercharged. In comparison I have yet, Until now just happened to run into a Turbo or TT C5. Someone mentioned to me in a threat I should look at turbos when i finally get the nuts up to go FI So I looked up prices for kits and geez they seem like about half as much as the SC kit so why do I not see more of them??? Well thanks to you guys cause I think I understand the deal a little more now as your cars even the basic systems definitely look way more involved than the average bolt on SC. So if I am correct the turbo system might start off cheaper but spend more time and money installing. Trade offs good and bad for either way just depends on who ya are and what your looking to get out of your engine I suppose.

A FI CAR WILL NEVER MAKE BIG POWER!!!!!!!

Lol

Seriously though, if you are mechanically inclined, then either option can be great. I have custom twins and have no issue other than fuel but I am also pushing a max effort car. For myself, I didn't want sc due to belts so I built my turbo kit. You can make big power on either platform just depends on when and where you want power to come in at. There are more variables but I think you get it.

I think I have the basics of it. I've built 10sec small block NA street cars in the past but that was many years ago. Never messed with any kind of FI as it always seemed out of my reach. I'm kinda over having to work on my toys all the time and now i'm at the point where I only want to work on my toys when I "want" to not "have" to.

C5 has 60,000 miles on original perfect running motor. I Would like to conservatively get some more power out of it bring it to 500hp or little more have that cool blower whine / turbo spooling sound but really don't want to get into building a motor or selling my house to make my car .5 sec faster. I envy those of y'all that are so passionate about your quest for power the knowledge that you have and the sacrifices you make but y'all in a whole different league compared to me
