Default TR6 vs TR6IX

Is there a benefit of the NGK TR6IX (3689) over the NGK TR6 (4177) spark plugs for a boosted application (7 psi)?

Thanks!!

Go with the TR6 and go to AZ or Oreillys to buy them. Much cheaper than what those link have them listed for.

Any benefit of the standard TR6 over the iridium version? Any reason we don't want to run iridium other than the price?

Copper is a better conductor. Iridium will last longer. Copper is gapable (iridium is easy to gap down, not up)

Just picked TR6's up yesterday at Oreilly's for $1.99 a piece. Like Milan said earlier, copper is a better conductor.

Gap them. They're never right.

I found this thread in LS1Tech:

http://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-ind...eat-range.html

It talks identifies various configurations (stock/aftermarket + nitrous/boost).

What I learned (I think) is that the TR6 plug won't even fit on my heads (Dart Pro 1) and with my setup (10.8:1 compression w/ 6.5-7psi) I'm going to need a much colder plug (heat range 8 or colder) than the TR6 for my setup.

According to this thread 11:1 requires a heat range of 8 (NGK R5672A-8). Should I go colder than that? 9 or 10?

Thanks for the help!

If you don't want a projected tip and want a little colder, you could go to the BR7EF. I could not imagine going colder at that power level.

One advantage of copper plugs is that if you run lean and/or detonate, especially on nitrous or high boost, the plug tips burn and it may save your engine.

I pulled a plug to see what I was currently running:

BKR6EIX-11 (heat range 6)

I was running these plugs before the supercharger.

Does anyone see any problems with running:

BKR7EIX-11 (heat range 7)

Or should I just stick with the heat range 6 plug?

According to the thread:

http://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-ind...eat-range.html

a heat range 6 plug is too hot.

I know a lot of people run a TR6 with boosted applications but most of them aren't pushing 11:1 static compression ratio.

Thanks for the help!!

Are heat range 7 plugs too cold for my setup? Should I stick with heat range 6 plugs?

Why not just buy one of each and make a pull (dyno or street) and pull the plug to find out?

I like the iridiums for high boost. Car seems to run better too. Ran tr6/br7ef/etc and so far I like the 7ix the best for a daily driver 800-1000rwhp.
