Default Before & After A&A install

an A&A SuperCharger install.

As a retirement gift, from me to me; I had A&A Corvette install a SuperCharger in my 2003 C5.
I want to thank Andy, Josh, Jesse and all the guys at A&A. They do great work, service after the job is second to none I've ever seen, and they made me feel welcome there, as if I'd been an old customer for many years.

My LS1 engine is bone stock, So I asked Andy for a mild tune, leaving some to spare. He did, and told me there was more there, if I ever decided I need 'more'. Just give him a call. I think 504 RWHP, is enough for anyone.... on a stock LS1 motor; that is. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind about that.....

I have to admit one thing, I did not like. When your car is on the dyno, and Andy is 'tuning' it; it's kind of upsetting. Kind of like having one of your own kids in surgery, and that nervous feeling. Been there, done that. With the SuperCharger wound up, in my car, on the dyno; that thing just starts screaming, and hunkers down against the dyno straps; and you (me) feel like it's the space shuttle about ready to launch. Then, 'finally', Andy would shut it down, work some magic with his laptop plugged into my onboard computer, and then do it again.... and again....
Maybe I should have stayed in the office, until 'my baby' came out of surgery. LOL

Going from 314 HP at the rear wheel, to 504 RWHP, with a broad torque band (461), is a hoot, I must say. I understand, that guys have 600, 700, and more; and that must be an awesome thing, for sure. But, this car is fun at a new level, and exciting to punch (hang on when it shifts down, and revs up a little). Rear tires may need to be replaced, a little more often. Still my C5 can be very calm, and is my daily driver, and will cross the country on many long trips to come. Almost nobody would know that it's not stock, unless you had a trained ear, and know how to listen for the SC, just driving around.

I should now say something witty, like 'it's so much fun to get blown', but; er, uhm, oh well, never mind.

Don

Welcome to the club!! Andy and his crew definitely have a top notch operation for sure. I was recently able to tour the shop for the first time and I must say, Andy has a very nice operation/setup.

The wheels are Ruff 954 model, 20" x 19", sold by Alex at Speed Depot, a forum vendor.

Thanks for the kind words.

You talking about for the sake of the clutch or the gear box?
I grenaded my old T56 on a 3rd gear hit. (not at this power level OP, so don't worry too much about my comment)

Congrats. Your disease begins.....now.

I'm guessing OP has an auto per his "hang on when it shifts down & revs up a little"

Also guessing he's punching it in OD, which could kick it into 2nd from OD= not good for stock trans

This is what I was told years ago by RPM, just passing it along.

Nice car. Looks like a real sleeper, and if you got the helical cut gears I bet you could barely tell you have a supercharger. Get some good tires if you haven't and enjoy the power.

+1

Good tip!!

Don't punch it in OD, always pull it down to 3rd (DRIVE) before you nail it... The 4l60e doesn't take well to 4-2 downshifts.

Congrats on the new combo... Gotta love 190hp gain... 500+ rwhp thru an auto with stock exhaust, stock cam, stock everything is very respectable and you'd never know its there... Its the best of both worlds... Its a slippery slope from here on out.

It is an automatic, and I appreciate the heads up on this. In a year or so, I may consider the Z06 catback as well.
Who knows about the future...

thanks,
Don
