Question: 04 Z06 Supercharged
I test drove a 04 Z06 with an A & A supercharger that the dealership marked down.. it was my first time driving an supercharged corvette.. but the thing just seemed to struggle to make boost or what not.. It sounded like a fluttering bird the entire time driving it and the highest i seen the boost gauge go up to was 2 1/2 mark on the gauge.. The car wasnt all that powerful and actually felt slower than the C6 Z06 i test drove before the C5 Z06 Supercharged.. what could cause it to boost so low and be down on power.. I punched the skinny pedal to the floor in 2nd and the back tires never once tried to go sideways..

sounds like a boost leak or a slipping belt.. WEAK or loose clamp, torn coupler, weak tensioner.... I would think even a bad charger will still put up the boost just be eating itself internally. SC c5Z will rip pretty damn good. a C6Z will will feel WAY different. 5.7L vs 7.0L is a big ammount, especially with stock to stock tires. you should be seeing MINIMUM 5psi out of a A&A kit.

BOV may not have been functioning properly, or something way wrong.
I disagree with the c6z comment. FI is the way to go.

C6Z would beat that C5Z without putting more money into it. Yes, I agree I love FI over NA. But the LS7 is no slouch.

$32k is a ripoff.
if you are really interested in a FI c5 look for a private party sale, never go thru a dealer.

I went there to look at a C6 Z06 they had.. was peace of crap.. none the less.. rust everywhere.. and the engine was just caked with oil when i looked closely at the areas they didnt pressure wash..made sense why it was priced at 33k for 08 Z06

OP, where's the car? I would highly recommend you take the car to a qualified corvette shop that's experienced specifically with supercharged c5's if possible and let them take a close look at it. If you're not in that kind of position, maybe you can at least take the car to a dyno and give it a pull. Then pull the codes on it via the DIC. Take a video of them with your phone or write them all down, then clear them all, drive it again and see what comes back immediately.
Last option is you can purchase (or possibly borrow) a HPtuners module and take the car out and log it. Someone qualified like me could remotely set the computer up to log a handful of parameters to possibly determine what's going on with the car.
I'm currently working on a very nice looking car that has a stellar parts list, including a C5R427 block and it ended up needing thousands of dollars worth of work to make it right.
If the owner had someone like me look at it prior to purchasing, he wouldn't have purchased the car and would have saved an easy 5k after the purchase.

OP I would stay away from that one. Buying a modded car is awesome if you know the history and its from someone who knows what they are talking about. On the other hand it can also be a complete headache of it has existing problems.
Much nicer car here for cheaper from a good shop Dallas Performance http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-c...w-car-f-s.html

all the bolt heads on the suspension where covered in surface rust, the brake system had alot of rust on it.. along with rusty rotors... and the headers were orange.. almost like the entire header was rusted.. When i started it up.. it had a pretty loud ticking sound... almost like a bad missfire.. but there was no check engine light.. so i was assuming it had a cylinder head problem.. they were pushing hard to sell it to me.. along with the C5z06.. I wouldnt buy either one honestly.. 2 much money for how badly they were taken care of..
