AES 370 ls fully assembled F/I shortblock.... Reviews
Title should say 390ci.
My stock bottom ended 99 vert is at the tuner and should hit the rollers in a few days. A quick combo rundown: SBE LS1, single 70mm rear mount turbo, PRC heads, Patrick G turbo spec'ed cam, ls6 intake, and all the basic supporting mods plus plenty of fuel system and a devils performance meth kit. Cars been tuned at 10 lbs for the end of last year and ran strong for a DD.
It's getting a 15lb tune and I told the tuner " if it lets go, it let's go". If it lets, I'm contemplating getting into the AES 390 ci ls shortblock they advertise for $4300. Does anybody have any personal experience with these motors and the quality of AES's work? I couldn't find much feedback on their shortblock. I'd " like" to make 1000 rwhp with a turbo change if my stock block lets go. What's the general consensus on this motor.

I am eventually putting a AES 390 in my Z to run my APS TT with upgraded turbos. AMS expected around 1000rwhp on that combo. I personally think they're great engines but don't have experience yet with em. I'd do some searches here regarding the AES motors. Back when I was researching them I found many good threads.

EDIT: I am NOT selling this motor. I was just merely saying that I have one installed in my FRC; and, if you want some info, I'd be happy to provide it for you. Damn you A/C Man

Well you're in luck. I have an LQ9 AES 390. If you want, I can post the details here or PM you. I'll say that I am very impressed so far!

Remember though, it all depends how busy they are.

3 months is rough. I guess I'll know in a few days if I'll be giving them a call. I seen another guy in another thread ordered last January and was at closer to 3 1/2 months.

This looks like a great deal under at 5800 with heads and it'll ship next day from jegs. I know it's probably not the best parts but considering the beating stock motors take, I'm sure this will hold. The reluctor is 58x so you'd need to change it or get the conversion box. Worst case it blows you have an LSX block to rebuild with. It has warranty too
Or you can spend an extra 2 grand and get the B15 with better internals and 6 bolt heads.

Whats a stock GM crank rated to? I'm sure GM wouldn't use it for 650, but we all see them used over 1k hp. I've used a 4" c series crank a few years ago and it was a really nice looking/measuring piece. So you get a crank, rods, pistons, block, bearings, machine work and assembly. How is that a really bad deal? The reason they use that crank is it's a lower cost option for a 3.825" stroke. AES has a pretty good rep around the midwest, but I don't have an iron in this fire.

It came with a Callies crank, compstar rods, ARP throughout, Diamond pistons, upgraded rings, race bearings, skirts and tops coated, and an LQ9 block. I think that is good for a bit over 600HP.

I'm sure we've all seen guys make close to 1k with a stock crank & rods, seems like the stock pistons are the weak point. I'd imagine the aftermarket parts are of a better quality and the tolerances are better in the AES builds as opposed to a factory motor. My other turbo car makes 1k rwhp on an old junk eagle rotating assembly & diamond pistons. My builder is taking a break so I wouldn't mind trying that AES piece for a 1k rwhp build.

I just got off the phone with an AES representative. The wait time for a ls short block would be less than 2 weeks. He said most of their winter builds are done and everything's in stock. No core charge and I'm local so I could pick it up.
