Default Rod bearing failure = change crankshaft only ... or next level ?

My car is a MN6 street (8k miles /y) and strip car (3/5 drag race weekend /y)
Engine was a full 2000 stock LS1 68k miles with just vortech V3 SI/3.4 pulley, Large Cam(power range until 6900rpm)/springs/retainers/pushrod, LS2 chain
(other mods are 1000 injector, 2inch header, no cat)

I am looking at a "budget" setup
So, some options are my current dilemma

1) Rebuilt as stock :
Buy all OEM (crankshaft, rod, rod bearing, main bearing, bolts ,gaskets, piston rings, oil pump, head stud, ls1 head gasket)

2) Rebuilt as forged :
Buy FORGED crankshaft, FORGED rod, rod bearing, main bearing, ARP bolts ?, gaskets, piston rings, FORGED PISTON, MELLING oil pump, ARP head stud?, LS9 head gasket?

3) Rebuilt as forged and stroked (power range will be until 6500 and not 6900rpm) :
Buy FORGED STROKED crankshaft, FORGED rod, rod bearing, main bearing, ARP bolts, gaskets, piston rings, FORGED PISTON, MELLING oil pump, ARP head stud?, LS9 head gasket?

4) Going LQ9 (forged or not, stroked or not)

(hoping miss nothing)

FWI :
also need MN6 rebuild kit (shift issue),
upgrade damper (mine is again wooble, so going from 8 to 8.5"),
think to new lifters and tray (noise when cold),
think to trunion upgrade (cheap assurance ?)
think to swap for LSA head (ported or not) if i find a good deal (
lots of part and $^

Go with number (2) if going on a low buck to do the rebuild. stock crank, forged pistons & rings, forged rods, all new bearings, new oil pump.

Sell short block and get one already prepped. I always see guys post after getting their own engine forged that they should've bought a forged shortblock as it would've been cheaper.

Not sure what your budget is, my buddy has the following used parts for sale:

Forged Lunati 4" stroker crank

Forged Oliver rods

LS2 block - tapped for 1/2" head studs, machined for (included) DM Performance engine girdle

Forged Diamond Pistons & pins - part no 11521

Bore 4.03
Stroke 4.000
Rod 6.125
C.D.1.115
Weight 463
Pin .927 x 2.500
CC’s -15.0cc
Compression at 62cc = 10.5
Compression at 66cc = 10.0
Compression at 70cc = 9.8

Everything came from the same short block, so basically it's a complete package that needs a refresh (hone/rings, polish crank/bearings, assemble)

Parts are $3k + shipping

Parts/Refreshed/Assembled by Jim Bowen Racing Engines $4K + shipping (requires 1K deposit)

Yes, head bolt holes need enlarged & Cometic makes gaskets for 1/2" studs.

If you come across heads with bigger holes than you need, ARP makes insert washers to make up the difference.
(they are shaped like a top hat, up side down)

The head dowel pins stay the same, which position the head.

nice can the block go back to 7/16 studs ? only reason I would is its cheaper to use all my 7/16 stuff and the cost of drilling my AFR heads. Thanks Jay

You are making your power from the blower and not how many cubes you have. There are LOTS of people who use the stock crank till 800+ hp. I would rebuild your bottom end with the stock crank, forged rods and pistons. Save the $800ish on the crank.
