Default ~1000hp fuel and clutch questions

Hi guys,

Im trying to get everything together for my new build and I'm having a hard time finding specific fuel system requirements. What is NEEDED to make ~900 whp? What are you guys running? What size injectors will get me there without being at 100+% idc? Would some SD 80lbs do the job? I would not consider installing poor quality injectors, but if I can save $300 by not going with an overkill injector than thats what I'll do.

I see a lot of different fuel line kits available, but I'd like to know what components are absolutely necessary. Must I run all new feed lines and a return line or can that be avoided? What about the lines under the hood? Where are the factory restrictions?

Your knowledge/expertise is welcomed here please!

Also, is anybody running the McLeod RXT at this power level or higher with success? I know I will need to ditch my RST, but Ive been happy with it thus far, so Id like to stick with McLeod if possible.

Basic setup- 408, Novi 2000, heads & cam, etc, 2001 style fuel system.

Thanks!

Look at what the man is telling you here. But as you should know it takes money to play. Robert

You have other choices but not enough feedback, pay little more and get the tested and proven ECS kit....Done

I am at 600 HP level and already went 3 clutches (all single desk)....still not happy either they miss the beat at high RPM or hard launches or Pedal is too stiff. I should have bought ECS clutch Kit and done with and still save money compared to 3 single disk clutches.

My personal setup is a pair of walbro 255 pumps, ID 1000 injectors, aeromotive FPR, some aeromotive (copy) rails and -8 fuel line. And a Textralia exo skel triple disk clutch.

Nothing wrong with my clutch but if I had to switch, I'd definitely use the mantic clutch.

And there are some tried and tested true fuel systems that have been mentioned in here.

Bottom line. I'm not going to lie. A fuel system to support this kind of power is expensive. Period. There are cheaper alternatives but you get what you pay for.

Thanks for all the replies so far-

Josh T- what kind of power are you making? Stock FPR and lines?

Doug- I certainly cant fault you for trying to unload some product, but what else can you divulge?? Lol Will 80lb injectors get it done? Im running your meth system now fyi.

Sami- i ran my RST at ~640whp with no problems and loved it. I recommend it.

MVP- are you running -8 everywhere feed and return all the way to the tank? Or using stock feed for return now?

I've built entire fuel systems before with braided line , twin pumps etc on other cars, but Id rather not waste time and money replacing/upgrading stuff I dont need to.

Thanks guys,

I am going to be running this setup.

Dual aeromotive 340's in driver tank
Y in tank, -10 bulk head in hat
-10 line to front into filter
Filter to -10 line into a -10/-8 adapter
Adapter to -8 t fitting with single female swivel other 2 male
Male -8 from T into -8 cross over line to passenger rail via -8 90 d fitting then -8 orb fitting
Female swivel into drive rail via -8 orb fitting
Rear rails exit into short 90 degree orb hose ends
Hose ends into -8 line into aeromotive fpr
Outle of fpr into -8 line into GM adapter then into factory feed line
Removed factory fuel filter/fpr, replaced with male/female GM adapters to factory return line to passenger tank.
Factory siphon pump, factory line from pass tank back to drivers tank

Plan to run 130 lb injectors, or 100lb injectors with a bit of meth. Should have way more fuel than needed, but I'd rather have more than less. I have less than $500 in the lines/fittings, got a free filter and fpr, only need injectors and pumps.

I would go with the Bosch 1000cc injectors.

80lbs with meth will get it done but be close. We just finished a C6Z that has 80lb injectors and meth and the car made 910rwhp and the duty cycle was almost 90%. You could always turn the base pressure up a few PSI to help that. If you have the injectors already you will be fine. If not buy bigger.

I agree. Injectors are bad *** these days. No reason to not give yourself a little extra room on a FI build. It would be silly to not get the 1000cc injectors with the price of injectors now. I also believe you should get injectors big enough to support your combo without meth. I don't believe in spraying extra meth to compensate an inadequate fuel system.

I second the mantic 9000 twin disk. I have had mine for about three weeks now and it drives amazing. Slips when you need it and holds well from what I can tell.

I recommend our A&A External Twin pump fuel system and a Centerforce DYAD twin disc clutch.
Also the Bosch M/S extended tip injectors 92#@43.5psi

PM sent.
