Sounds like RPM is ready to give you a new or a discount on a new tranny!
Not sure how good of an idea it would be -
I say give it a try and let us know!
I am in for getting a good 60' time so using 1st is the way to go -
MAYBE a 2nd gear start would be good for a better MPH!
Thanks,Matt

It doesn't hurt anything. Might get the trans fluid hotter because the converter will run right up to stall speed and sit there until the mph catches up. You do need to remember to move the lever to 3 at about 5000 so the car can do the 2-3 shift for you.
It loses .6 seconds in ET but runs the same mph in my car.
Might not be a bad idea if on street tires.

You need to be making a lot of torque and power to utlize a 2nd gear. launch-and the converter needs to be built around the fact your going to launch in 2nd gear.
In your case I don't think it will work-there are much simpler ways to kill power off the line and ramp it back in.

King of the street knows what he is talking about...tried it tonight....not that great of a result...car left the line nice but died off....pathetic 7.3 1/8 mile runs.....regular first gear start got me a 6.4 1/8 mile run ..... And killed 8deg of timing from idle to about 4800... New tires held great considering no track prep....so I'm going to put that timing back in
Thanks,Matt
