Default ECS Installation Complete - numbers too!

Hey Everyone,

I was able to get her tuned last Saturday! I will post a scan of the results soon but at least wanted to post the numbers. The maximum rwhp result was 542 HP and 505ftlbs Torque. The final tune was 539 HP and 501ftlbs Torque! It was also a pretty hot day but she still made great numbers! Completely happy with the results!!

I also need plan a time to get to the track to see what I can actually run...oh, that sounds lie a lot of fun!!

_______________

Previous post..........

I thought I would share that I had success tonight finalizing my installation of the ECS Supercharger along with Kooks Headers and X Pipe! It took a few weeks as I was really only able to work on it a couple of hours every other day or so...but I was able to start her up and hear the magic of the new growl It really feels like a great accomplishment!

I wanted to thank everyone for their help in understanding all the different systems out there as well as all the advice. This is such a great community of people! Also wanted to say thanks to Doug and the ECS boys for all their tech support (they didn't even curse at me on the phone ), I couldn't have done it without them!

I can't wait to get the tuner in a week or so...need to call and schedule an appointment

Unfortunately, I don't have in progress pics as this was a one man show and my hands were always dirty! But I will take some pics of the finished product and post them shortly.

Kev

A few Pics: (I guess they don't display like I thought they would...here is the photostream on flickr ... http://www.flickr.com/photos/96170765@N07/)

Thanks! I went with the 1500. I know what you mean about the anticipation of that first shipment too! Seems like forever but it is only a few days.

My mods as of right now only consist of the ESC 1500 package, the 1-7/8" Kooks Headers (race style - no AIR) with the 3" x-pipe, and Borla Stinger Exhaust. I am going to try and run this for a while to see what happens...it may lead to the powertrain next

I am hoping to get around 550 to 600 hp with this setup but whatever it turns out to be will be significant over what was there to begin with. Just the sound of rev is SO much more powerful than before...you can feel the desire of her to unleash havoc on the pavement!

What year do you have? Which kit did you get?

Thank you! And you couldn't more right about the respect aspect, I prefer to not end up as a YouTube video...well, the ones where everyone is shaking their head and saying...man that is a stupid ***!

Congrats on the kit!

Who will you be using to tune it?

Congrats Kevin, big accomplishment to install it yourself and no better feeling then when asked who did the work to say "I did it".

Glad I could help, and thanks for your business!

I ordered an ecs kit with a d1sc head unit... I have an 02z with lg super pros, corsa xtremes, ecs' big blower cam... as it sits the car put down 419/386 and I'm hoping for about 650rwhp after the blower install... I think that will be plenty and don't really have plans to go higher, at least not for a good while... I have an act twin disc I need to install and the trans/diff is definitely getting built while it is out but I am not looking forward to that job lol... I will just be easy on it and not launch it hard until I get that done

Your going to need some octane in that tank if your not going with meth injection at 650 rwhp IMHO.

I have a racetronix 255lph pump and their wire harness already installed, boost-a-pump will be installed this weekend, and I have 60lb mototrons that will be going on when the blower is installed... will that not be sufficient at that level?

I'm not talking about fuel supply, I'm talking about the fuel being used. 93 octane is not sufficiant enough octane to support 650 rwhp in my experience.

Isn't it a good idea to run some kind of octane boost in any SC car? Because all gas station's are not created equal and just not consistent?

Three words to live by when making big power....

OCTANE_OCTANE_OCTANE.

It's not a tuning crutch, it's simple physics that you will lose to everytime. Especially with todays inconsistent fuels as you pointed out.

I am sure you will be OK, but if I was going to be at 650 rwhp. I would put bigger inj,s in my car you will be pushing those 60,s at that rwhp at WOT... It is always more to upgrade with bigger hp.. Robert
