Impressed with the latest 9.3 runs made by 2003vett on the stock 'long' block
There has to be a dozen or more out there that have cracked the single digit's on GM supplied rotating assemblies..........
Does anyone daily drive a 9second stock bottom C5? not sure what convertor is being used on these runs?
Whatcha got?

He's using a yank 3800 stall converter . The car is truly a street car, I've seen Shawn driving the car to work. (he works 60 miles from home)
I wouldn't believe his runs either but I have been there for all of his record runs as well as from when the car ran 12's. This car is truly amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if we see an 8 second slip next year.
Great job Shawn and ECS!
PS Shawn if you hit 8's I'm selling my car!

i drive mine to work when ever i know im not headed to job sites and when weather permits. my FTI stall feels not different than my wifes A6 grand sport so it great around town. my circle d +4c was way loose around town. my car still has all the amenities along with 2 amps, hertz speakers, JL TW13.5 (take out the box on track days), nav, ect. only thing im considering doing is putting back on the TI exhaust, the corsa indys sound great but are pretty loud now.

I'm .2 away from my 9 sec slip! I have run 140mph so I know the car has it! I pretty much have the exact same setup as Shawn, except I have a Yank 3200 stall. I even think we have the same tune!
Spring should hopefully bring good things!

It's a short list. Mine with bone stock LS6 ran for a couple years at that level, going a best of 9.7 at 142 with auto.
The list is even shorter with a stick, where I believe only clemsondave has done it with a 9.9 at 138.

Most people and tuners won't take the risk that it can let go any moment. You get confidence over time, but running it that hard eventually takes it's toll.

A stock ls1 short block motor can make more power at the same boost as a forged motor because its less rotating mass lighter pistons ect. just what I seen over the years but it cant take the same abuse as forged we all know! these ls motors are unbelievable!!

If these cars were a easy motor swap I would run stock short blocks

no doubt a forged motor(basically the pistons) can take more than the stock hyperpukes
It's kinda the Fbody approach, stock motor, truck manifolds backwards and fab up a 76 to sit up front and let it eat

you must have a lift! how long does it take to completely swap a short block? with a blower?

I ran a 9.95 with just a blower cam and springs changed in the engine. A&A S Trim running about 13lbs of boost, SD tune, meth, drag pack, headers, and a 2600 vigilante TC. I ran the car for a year or more at that level on the street with no motor issue. Ended up pulling the motor for a forged 427...

For ECS
If this car has done all these pulls and makes this power why are you so reluctant to put 600 rwhp to my 99 C5?
By reluctant I mean you are not very encouraging and state you do not recommend over 550 rwhp.

Because... If mine blows up, I'm ok with it. My car has 30k on it, now, blower was put on a long time ago. And left the shop, with a very conservative tune, and 495
RWHP. it all depends on what else the car has done to it.... Ex. Drivetrain.. Trans, rear, tires, etc.....
Call Doug and talk it over with him, what are your plans, goals, with the car, daily driver, weekend warrior, regular drag racer, etc..
