I went through AES for a motor as well. We hit a few bumps in the timeline but the build started April 24th and the motor should make it here by Friday. So, about 7.5 weeks...and the delay was parts and an extra week to coat the pistons. Overall, I am very pleased.

Op, if it was me, I'd give this guy a deadline and then, if he fails to meet it, get my money back. That or just get your money back. I have heard that HKE builds a great engine but 2 years is bull$hit and there is no excuse. They are playing you!

The problem was money, Erik ran out and that is why my motor has taken so long.

That's complete BS on their part if what you say is true. HKE is supposed to be one of the premier Machine Shops in the country. That's a sure fire way to completely loose any credibility as a legit machine shop.

I sure hope that what you say isn't the case but this thread should definitely be a sticky if its true.

Sorry u had to wait so long.

I used Charlie at RPM and I'm satisfied with my engine.

Yes I hate to see someone and his money get taken advantage of, especially while on active duty it's despicable.

While I dont want to start a argument with you. Im going to have to disagree. If the engine has been paid for in full, there is no reason it should not be done regardless of his management skills. To say "im out of money" is not an exscuse once the build has been funded. If you do not have the capital to take on a project, you never should. Thats the bottom line.

This is of course my opinion and how I do business. Im not saying the guy is a "thief", but in my eyes he isnt far off with business practices like that.

He may be a great builder, I do not personally know him and have never done any business with him. But regardless of his skill, with issues like this, I would be shocked why ANYONE would contact him for a build in the future. This is customer service at its worst.

Good news he finally got his engine! You might have the record for longest engine build ever. Hope it makes the jam with your APS f-body.

Nice to hear he got his engine. So many shops get themselves in trouble by spending money and thinking they will use money from the next build to pay the one they are doing now.

It's been 2 years and 4 months; Erik came through as he has struggled to keep his doors open. A lot of shops have gone under in the last couple of years taking peoples hard earned money. In the end the most important thing is that I have my motor and I’m not out any money. I think that says something about Erik, I’m sure he could’ve taken the easy way out and closed up shop but instead he is trying to make things right.

Shame to hear about HKE. Other sites I go to, this WAS/IS the place to have your engine built at and he's local to boot. I hope he can get it back in order. I feel for anyone in the sales business. It's cut throat. Thankfully I'm not but my wife is and cheaper is always better for some reason.

Find the best person to run your business while you focus on engine building. Talent like I've heard you have isn't something that should go away.

I was confident that he would come through. Glad he did.
