Default HEADERS- 1 7/8 VS 2in?

Hey guys, I'm looking at a new build and is there a significant difference between the two? I'm talking about 15lbs of boost and more for this situation?

I have 1 3/4 now and was thinking about going to 2in, headers? Is is worth the cost for the change?

Me and arun installed 2" ARH on his vette and install was a breeze, fitment was damn great, heck i liked so much would be saving pennies for a 2", and iam only 347 cubes with 10 lbs boost.

Looking at 1 7/8 headers who upgrade from 1 3/4" did not loose anything under whole rpm infact gained torque and HP all over the graph.

Not much price difference between 1 7/8 and 2", i say go for 2" specially with 400+ Ci and over 15 lbs boost. 2" all the way.

On a 347 we went from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 and picked up 13 rwhp-but the kicker is this-WE WENT TO A LARGER BLOWER PULLEY-from 3.4 to 3.55.

So we dropped boost but gained horsepower.

There really wasn't much tuning involved-the car was SD tuned so it new exactly how much fuel to deliver with less boost.

Very interesting. Undecided on whether to leave my 1 3/4 headers on my 347 YSI build and just put cutouts on it, or run 2 inch headers.

Headers are so damn expensive.

Yeah, but I'd hate to run the MPH you do with 900rwhp through an auto...

and I'm not the one here bragging on my avatar (somewhere in the mid 9s) when you just got a got a car waiting to be blown???

I don't know how many times I had your back as a friend on here when you actually had a 9s car helping you but now you want to be unchristian like a through me under the buss all over this forum every chance you get to say my 9s car has a slow MPH I have gone faster than I have posted but really don't care to share anymore

I really wanted to go to the track day u set up in Houston but i will not be there for you guys to make fun and game with no one has ever helped my car get dialed in for track runs and I was praying someone at this rental would help me willing to pay for track tuning
Relax, man. Put the bottle down and take commments with a grain of salt after all the Texas/local tuners you have thrown under the bus for some reason. Last year, I got the track rental idea setup, going, and LMR took over. Same thing as this year. Not my track rental, so go kiss some butt if you want to go.

Again, your car is fast. Go hit an early morning workout/cardio session to help relieve your stress level.

DOH!
LOL

Oh wait... That one nails me too... "You Bastard!" (Kyle voice from South Park)...

(Mine is the highest HP/lowest trap car on the forum...)

As for the headers, as much as I love the look/fit of my 2" ARH headers (although you still have to mod the AC line), knowing what I think I know now, I don't think I would swap from a GOOD set of 1 3/4" to go to a 2"....unless shooting for 1000hp or something..

I went from 1 3/4" LG Super Pros and they were an awesome set of headers to 2" ARH, it cost me about $700 to make the change after I sold my LGs, so not TOO bad but, I doubt I really gained much... I changed too many things at the same time though to measure any header gains. I would guess the gains were marginal at best on my set up.

If I was buying new and didn't have any headers at all, I would damn sure buy 2" ARH from the start.

I have 1" 7/8 to 2" stepped on my FRC and had a set of 1" 3/4 Kooks that were going on my Vert but just sold them and bought a new set of ARH 2". Still in the box! I am taking the 1"7/8 to 2" Kooks off the FRC and putting them on the Vert and installing the new 2" kooks on the FRC 427 F1x. The vert is 410ci n/a.

Shane has Kooks 2"

We have a set of LG pro 1" 3/4 on the yellow Z06 402 F1a making 900rw. It could use bigger bit not sure how much it will help.

If you can sell yours for a decent price then do it. It sure won't hurt

Thanks for the info guys, I probably will stick with my 1 3/4 unless I come across a used set of 1 7/8 or 2" for a really good price!

Plus on the 2 inch pull your A/C line off befor you put a set of 2 inch back on. Have to get your A/C LINE reworked and you cant get the line off the car with the 2 inch headers back on the car with the KOOKS. Robert

Great thread. Looks like I'll keep my 1 3/4's and just put dumps on them like I did on my Z06.

I run the 2" ARH...they are more money but fit like a glove with zero modification. I had my old 1 7/8 ARH out and new ones in in 2hrs on my back in my garage.
