Just curious what everyone does here...
Do you do 50/50 meth/water or 100% methanol
Also what is your boost level and how much power do you make
I know there's lots of stock bottom end lsx's running 10 to 12 psi boost, reliably and safely.

I run 50/50 at about 10 lbs. boost. Conservatively 500 HP at the wheels. It's an A&A kit Si vortech. Been on there about 3 years. Totally stock motor. I don't lean on the throttle every time I go out because of traction problems. A good tune is the key to longevity as well as keeping the RPMs in the safe zone. Good luck, Rod

This is good info. Thanks for sharing.
What do you think the HP gain is from going to 100% meth from 50/50 meth/water....?
Im also assuming people who go with 100% methanol add some more timing - due to additional cooling effect of pure meth.
Some people insist of 50% water to cool the piston top.
Others insist on 100% methanol for the additional cooling (of intake charge) benefit.
Are there any flammability concerns w/ 100% methanol(ie. I imagine you want to make sure the blowoff valve is away from any underhood potential ignition sources) ?

I'm not convinced that 50/50 is better than 100%, but thats just me!

And plenty of great info here !
When my set up is finally put together and installed, I'll be 100% meth as well.

Where do you get the pure meth from?
I used to get it from a trucking fleet nearby, but that source dried up
Summit racing retail store is nearby me, but they only sell boost juice. 49/51%
Does storage container and lines need to be metal? Or will it eat a plastic tank and rubber lines?
Btw. Yes I know that I would need to retune for pure meth vs. 50/50. It would make the mixture richer.

Drifting
I always ran 50/50 and one day switched to 100% meth. A couple days later I noticed the meth tank was empty. I pulled the res. and noticed that it all leaked out from the rubber plug under the w.w. tank. I have no idea if it was from the straight meth or just a coincidence. Now im back to 50/50.

Man, I'm looking forward to this one day. I'm completely stock right now, but definitely have been reading up on the benefits of running meth with FI.
Gotta save my pennies. First it's LT headers, Big3 exhaust, Clutch, then maybe before this century is over I'll get FI and meth -- looking at ECS, I've heard a ton of good things.

Boiling Point of Meth
One other thing to keep in mind is that the boiling point of 100% methanol is 149 degrees. I run 100% in the windshield washer tank and when the engine bay heats up the meth boils in the tank, when I park in my garage half the time when I shut it off I can hear my meth tank just gurgling away.
