Default KKs FRC F1X build

After not having much luck at the track with my nitrous vert I decided to build a boost car for myself. I had great results out of a F1a 402 Z06 I built so I decided to build something along that line. I did not want to build my Vert due to it being a Vert. I had been looking for some time for a FRC and finally found one. Its a Black 2000 FRC MN6. It was totally stock other than Kooks 1 3/4 headers, Fast 90/90 and a Vararam CAI. The car had a bunch of miles but looks very clean. This is going to be my track car and the Vert is going back closer to stock for the street.

I am taking allot of the parts off the vert to build the FRC so this will actually be 2 builds at the same time. I am taking the drive train out of the Vert, Sold the short block (418 ls3) built a fresh 420 ls3 to get the car up and going while I build a RHS short block to handle more boost. The Vert was converted to auto with a level 5 trans so I sent it back to RPM to be upgraded to a level 7 with a trans brake. The running gear from the FRC will go into the Vert and it will be converted back to a MN6 car.

Here is the run down on what the build is at this time. It seems like I change daily what I am trying to build. This was supposed to be a track only car taking out ABS, air bags, heat and air, radio ect to get it as light as possible but have since changed it and I am putting back all the acc for some odd reason. It was going to be on race gas now its a E85 build. So here goes.

Engine:
LS3 11.0 to 1 420ci stroker
Trick Flow 245 solid roller heads (6 bolt)
Jessel shaft rockers
Big solid roller cam ( have several to try)
L19 head studs
10% overdrive 8 rib balancer
Electric W/P
LS3 oil pan
Not sure on intake. I have 4 to try
LS2 intake
Fast 90 intake
Super Vic intake
Vic JR intake
90mm T/B
Power Adder:
Procharger F1R
Cartek SC bracket
Cartek flip drive
Not sure on I/C at this time

Fuel System:
Magnafuel MP-4703
-10 feed
-8 return
Aeromotive 13110 pro series boost regulator
stock pump for non boost running
ID2000 injectors
Meth injection

Drive Train:
Quick time bell housing
SFI flexplate
Extreme duty converter drive plate
Solid torque tube couplers
New bearings
RPM Level 7 4L60 with deep pan and trans brake
Built 3 rib C5 diff with 4 different choices of gears
Poly engine and trans mounts
Coan single disk lock up converter
PI 5 disk lock up converter

Interior:
10 point 4130 CM cage

Here is some pics before tear down

Tear down

Clean up

Level 7 4L60 with deep pan and trans brake

420CI ls3

Drive shaft with solid couplers and new bearings

Drive plate

Starting out with 5 disk lock up for tuning on the dyno

Hope to have the car layed down on the drive train this weekend. Fuel system won't be here till next week. Cage won't be here for several weeks. Money is running out and I haven't started putting my Vert back together and still lack a bunch of parts for this.

I can get them. This is the 3rd set of Cartek brakets I have used with excellent results. I will be maxing out this F1R RHS motor and maybe stepping up to the F1X. I hope the 8 rib can handle the job.

I will post some close ups this weekend

They work perfect. I ran them on my Vert and will run them on the FRC. We have been running them on the Yellow vette over 4 years. 1.3x 60ft all day long

I am kinda scared to max out a 4.085 bore LS3. I would hate to crack a sleave like Chris Steawart did. That's why I purchased a RHS block from Arun several weeks ago. I am shooting for around 18lbs or so on the LS3 so about 900rw and build the RHS to max out the F1R around 1100rw or whatever it will make at max impeller speed.

a/c man, concentrated Simple Green and a scrub brush, rags, and power washer and a 100,000 mile C5 can look that new! The stuff works wonders and is not caustic.

nice were at 26 lbs on pump and meth and like 970rwhp. . .seems real low for hp and real high for boost. Bret was telling us the borla stinger exhaust is a big restriction and could be losing alot of power with no blower intake. .hopefully we crack 1k. . .good luck with the build looks sick

I have never used the solid couplers on the drive shaft. This will be the first. One reason my nitrous vert didn't do very good last year is I found the stock couplers were rubbing the torque tube and melting. It had got so hot the rubber turned blue. It was kinda like I was putting on a brake the entire pass. bad thing is I didn't find the issue till I had bought all these parts and tore the other car down. I see a drive shaft in the future but money has ran out!

The Yellow Z06 is making 900rw runs 5.80's in the 1/8 and 1.3x 60fts all day long every pass and it runs a stock drive shaft.

Z06WANTED runs a stock drive shaft without issue

I hope the stock one hold out for a bit.
