My car makes 10 lbs of boost I dont know if its a little more or less hard to watch boost gauge while driving Keep in mind I have a cam that is prolly bleeding off some boost and full exhaust. I made right at 600 rwhp on the dyno with a super rich tune (meth dependent) about to yank the cats tweak the tune and get some new numbers. I am still running stock LS1 heads I wonder what I would put down with some real heads however after the cats and retune its done till its forged I am not pushing it any further...

Been running anywhere between 10-14 lbs everytime I drive it! 1300 1/4 mile passes and still going..

Back in 04 I was making 14lbs on my stockish 02 C5. Was like that for 3 years on straight pump gas and the knock sensors disconnected. Car went 10.7 at the track (M6,stock gearing) Nowadays you can run the safety of methenol.
I retract my statement above though. Yesterday we built/dyno'd a Camaro that only made 8lbs. Was out of a Whipple though. We need to up it to 10lbs soon. LOL

Ok Iam confused now...what am I missing...I have read post after post on here saying that if you run the stock LS1 motor (and want it to last for a while) that you're best to keep it around 5-8psi and with that you should be at around 500rwhp. At 10-14psi you should be in the 600-650rwhp ballpark but on stock internals your flirting with issues to happen in the not to distant future...especially if not running meth? Hopefully both Chris/Doug (ECS) and Andy/Frank (A&A) chime in...cause that is where I gathered these numbers from.

Octane, octane, octane !!! Three words (Yes all the same) that will keep your motor together regardless of boost levels (Within reason). We have numerous 10+ psi street cars, and 9-Second rides (i.e. 2003Vett- Shawn - 9.7x E/T). Tommy runs 10psi with his turbo car on pump gas with a little methanol and runs 9.7x's
The LSx motors will stand up to the boost levels, and power, as long as the octane levels are there. What ruins most stock bottom ends is detonation. I don't see many rod failures (Unless TQ is crazy), as I do failed pistons due to the detonation. Once again, safe tune + good octane you can go 1300 + passes like 2003Vette (Shawn) has.

We have numerous 10-12psi street cars, then Shawn's 9-second ride, along with numerous other 10+psi 9-second rides. If it is tuned conservatively, and the octane levels are there then no worries about running 10+psi.

im thinking more along the lines of meth and some 104 unleaded in the tank.

well for a race car maybe...but I think the focus here is on a stock car with stock internals...which means 91 or 93 premium that you can get at any fill up station. 104 with meth...wouldn't that be like around 115+ octane when at boost?
