Default Vortech vs Paxton vs Procharger

What do you run and why? Some run one because of noise. Others run the other one because they want the noise. Some say they all make the same power. Others say they make the same power, but some make more torque across the board.

To put it simply, I wanna get blown. I have been talking with numerous shops about their kits, and others kits, etc. Some companies have spent literally hours on the phone with me, others just seconds. Some haven't even called me back yet, and it's been over a week and a few messages/pms. I obviously will not do business with a company like that.

It seems as though the "cheapest" kit is the AA kit. However, the kit runs up in price very quickly. The kit starts at $5500 with everything you need to make 650rw but will go up if you want more. The kit seems great for stock cubes, or no plans of ever going forged. For that you need to T-trim, but why stop there when you know you will want more. For top of the line AA, you need YSI. Add $1,000 for YSI(used to be $800?) and you will need an 8-rib so you don't get belt slip, so add another $1,100. Didn't the 8-rib used to be $800 as well? Anyways, for the top of the line AA kit you're looking at ~ $7600.

The Cartek kit is $6500 for their procharger P1SC kit with Flip Drive Unit coming standard. (very nice piece guys) I have seen the P1 make over 600 no problem, but most will upgrade to a D1 and many to the F series. Whether it be F1A, F1C, F2, I am unsure on the prices on these upgrades, but I know they are not cheap.

ECS has a really nice kit, the paxton novi 2000. I have seen this kit make well over 700hp on a forged, yet stock cubed, LS6 motor. It wouldn't surprise me if this kit has hit over 1,000rwhp on stroker motors. This kit comes with everything you need and doesnt seem to really even have upgrades available other than 8 rib for pushing lots o' boost. I actually had another shop tell me the ECS kit was junk, yet I found something very strange/interesting. I have NEVER personally seen a used ECS novi kit for sale. If they were junk I think they would constantly be for sale and you would hear about it all the time. I do see a lot of the other kits for sale, but this could also be because they are upgrading to a larger blower or turbo system. ECS has also been the most friendly in offering advice at the track and over the phone.

So what do you guys run? Any of you ever run more than one system? Gone for a ride in different systems? I like loud so I was thinking maybe a procharger ECS kit, but I hear they make less torque and are a little more expensive. Mike69 told me I could buy a tial BOV for the novi and call it a day. I heard it on youtube and it sounded awesome. Thoughts?

As a person who just recently moved over to Vortech from Procharger, I would say Vortech all the way. For me, it was not about performance... it was a reliability issue. I plan on having a separate thread on this... stay tuned...

I am not looking for a shop pissing match. I am simply looking for what people like better and their reasoning and any proof if they have any.

"One shop may not treat one man the way they would treat another"

Had plugs and a dynotune done by a shop on the east coast before. Theyre a forum sponsor, wont give their name, but they do mostly LSX stuff and love the all motor stuff.

Anyways, I walk back into the shop(which was a mess btw), and the mechanic is leaning over my car with nothing covering the body to prevent scratching. As he looks over and sees me, he drops a socket onto the side of the car. He then goes and gets a mat and puts it on the car. He talks to me like nothing just happened. After all the plugs were installed, he started the car and forgot to take his flashlight off the accessory belt. I told him I wanted a new acc belt at no charge and he pretty much had no choice. Never went to those dumb@$$%$ again. Others swear they are "oh so great".

I bought my ECS kit (P1) used. The previous owner had removed it to sell his car. I'm slowly gathering parts to redo my fuel system before turning up the boost to ~9psi.

All of the kits and shops are very good. That being said...you are super close to ECS...I would go visit and chat with them. That will be all the time you need to spend to make your decision.

Considering that the ECSC Kit holds EVERY record for Supercharged C5's I'd love to know what shop told you that Dave. Perhaps its time to reevaluate who your getting advise from.

I run the "original" ECS novi. 9.7's @ 144. Perfect streetability. Still Original Stock bottom end and LS1 heads, not LS6. Just a cam, valve springs, meth, and headers, and a big ole blower. Still on a 6 rib. I have run as much as 14 lbs on race gas.
Its just works, really really well.
I cant, and wont speak badly of any other kit out there, because I do not have any experience with them, and I do not need any!
I can only speak highly of ECS, and their products.

For any one to say JUNK, has no clue what they are talking about.

PM me if you have any questions. This thread will soon get locked!

nice if still on stock bottom end.

I think every kit has its weakness and strengths. Some come with extra stuff that others don't. It just really boils down to what you like.

I myself have the AA T trim kit it is pretty bad *** self lubricating. Never had an issue yet with it.

I have never heard anything bad about AA , ECS as kit go . So which ever you decide to go with it will be ok.

I run a Procharger P1SC-1 - because I like the ste-up ratio! and I like the whistle

If a D1SC was California Smog Legallike the P1SC I would run it instead! for a little more RWTQ!

Thanks,Matt

I do not have experience with any other kit than A&A. That being said all I can truthfully say is that I have not had any issues with my A&A kit I run the Vortech Si trim and knowing what I do now I would have done a T or Ysi trim blower to give me room grow, but until I do forge my engine the Si trim is all I need so even if I had a bigger blower it would only really matter if I forged my bottom end. Good luck with your decision I am sure you will be happy with whatever you decide. The way it worked out for me is that my tuner/builder was comfortable with the A&A kit and I don't argue with the engine builder.

I like the fact the Vortech in my A&A kit is quiet and makes GREAT power. You can hear a Procharged Mustang a block away. My old Paxton (ball drive SN95) needed rebuilt every 10-15K miles. My Whipplecharged Tahoe is quiet and 100K + mile reliable, but no kit for C5 except with hood replacement. Son's Powerdyne Tahoe didn't make it past 20K miles.
