Default Fun gearing for 900+ HP

I am currently in the mid 900's (rwhp and tq) on pump gas with twin turbos. I am currently running a 3:15 diff gearing and I am not satisfied with the performance. I run 27 inch tires Mickey Thompsons ET Streets 345x 18's. T 56 tranny. I either want to go to 3:42's or 3:73's. It's a pure street car and only take to the track for fun. I do not want it breaking loose in fourth gear but right now it's just a bit too tame and takes a while to reach the sweet spot.

Your opinions appreciated.

I'd say base it on how fast you want to top out in fourth. Gear accordingly.

With turbos, 3.73s would prolly give it a little more jump before you hit full spool.

Look up an online gear calculator, to see what operating range will result. With 27" tire and 3.73, your trap in 4th will be limited to about 150mph at 7000rpm. With your power, you would need to shift into 5th at the end of the track, which is not desirable. I'd say the max gear would be 3.42. I'm surprised you don't already bbq the tires in 4th. 900rwhp is tame?

psh, go big or go home - it's a street killer anyway.

*runs and hides with 2.73 gears*

It's not a track car only a street car. Yes, I am leaning toward 3:42's but like the idea of fun on the streets with 3:73's. With 3:15's it just takes a loooong time to hit the sweet spot.

How is that beast running man. With the 2 diff ones that you are looking at, With that much power the 3:42 is the one to go with. The 3:73 you will be just blowing the tires off even more.

3:73 w/ 900rwhp I believe is a little too much. That gear would be good for around 6-700rwhp. The 3:15 are good for keeping you in the boost but if its pure fun your after the 3:42 you will be very happy with . It's hard to imagine with any gear you have that 3:15 would be a little sluggish. Either way good luck and keep the shiny side up.

AHHHH now I see why you are holding traction with the Mickey Thompson Drag Radials at 900rwhp. Turbo track I would say 3;42 turbo street car and just want blitz tires 3;73... The manual trans and a turbo car doesn`t fair to well... Lag between shifts...

3:42 is the way to go. 3:73 is gonna be too much gear.

Why not just use different tires?

I got stock cube motor w/ procharger doing 720whp/632wtq. I hit 380ft/lbs tq at about 2600rpm.
got T56, 3.73, MT 345 35 18
Above combo is just about perfect for me.
You got big cube motor so I'll stick w/ 3.42 if I were you.

I'd go 3.73 if you are going solid roller 7,500+ rpm's, otherwise 3.43's will be fine.

I run 3.90's and its killing my traction, I'm switching back to 3.42 here soon.

I think the 3.42's would fit you perfect.. I know of a 1,000rw C6 w/ the 3.15's here that felt pretty lazy, he switched back to 3.42 and the car feels much quicker..
