IMHO.... Blow-bye has more to do with the builder and ring gap than it has to do with the piston... Its the lessor of the 2 evils you may have to contend. with...
1) Have the builder put in new rings a pinch tighter.... (Yepp forged pistons still break ringlands.)
2) Or go a bit on the loose side build a kick butt catch can venting system...You just have to deal with the all the piston slap sound when its cold.
I am not the biggest fan of mine when itz cold.... Between the springs and just the cold motor she is a bit louder than I like. But when she gets all nice and warm she is ready... The worst are those cold winter nights when you take the car out to dinner for a few hours and it 15* degrees out come back to it 4hrs later and ya just cringe turning the key...

As others say, you're issue, assuming teh engine isnt actualy damaged will be down to ring sealing.
WHich is either rings havent bedded in properly, or bore preparation wasnt good to allow them to bed in.
Assuming the pistons are the correct size for the bore.
Actual piston choice will have nothing to do with it, as there are dozens of excellent pistons available.
If it was me, I'd be opting for JE, CP, then maybe Wiseco, Mahle etc etc.
Although I am currently using Wiseco, as that's just what the short motor came with.

Ive no hard evidence. I just liked the look of them better than the Wiseco I have now.
Whether a piston, ring or bore issue. My previous JE+total seal ring package, also sealed much better than the short motor I currently have. That was a 383, before I destroyed it. Considering what happened, the JE pistons held together amazingly.
The short motor I'm using now was purchased new, but un-used, so not 100% sure what ring package is used.
I use Wiseco a lot in Subarus, and they are excellent pistons. But they are very prone to piston slap when cold, as Wiseco seem to use quite big tolerances, so I assume they must expand quite a bit with heat, unlike some others.
Again, have used CP in a few Subarus, and their quality is also second to none

But I know that is hard nowadays, shops sells you things for your engine hoping that they put the correct items in there.
I was told certain items were in my engine but come to find out they were not. My original engine was a freakin frankenstein as no name parts were found in it and heads were hand ported after being cnc'd and they were so thin that they ended up leaking.
I just hope the shop you took it to stand by their work.
