Call superflow, and ask them how Roushe can run cup motors all day, but we broke the very same dyno they use. Reason; because they (superflow dynos) weren't meant to run 650 inch big blocks that make 750 ft lbs at 3500 rpms for 8 hours straight!!! Now we have a diesel endurance dyno, and have run engines as long as 400 hours, just to see what happens to them.

The knowledge gained from these programs is applied to our automotive engine packages. This is extremely valuable knowledge few individuals or shops in this industry have. We're lucky that we're in a position to acquire these types of contracts.

So, basically, there are few people in this business, that can tell you with confidence, and from EXPERIENCE, what parts are needed to make a certain combination last. I doubt you will find anyone on here, or any other automotive forum that has built this kind of engine to run at that level of power for that long.

Thanks (both of you above) for stopping in and posting your qualifications and not actually adding value to the question at hand.

The cooling system and every other aspect of the car must be up to the task as well.

I would run a Callies Magnum/carillo(Dyers/lunati billet, etc) connecting rod, and a good forged piston.

Our endurance cars run many many hours on track. They must be built with that in mind. cooling on a 6 second 200 mph drag car takes a totally different approach than a 24 hour endurance car.

Plan the work, and work the plan. Set a goal, and build to it with a safety factor built into your goal, and you will be fine
Lou, care to share a little more on the cooling setup you'd suggest?

5 miles is correct, but as you said, still not that long at WOT.

Will we be seeing you at the TX mile as well?

Drag racing you are at WOT for 8-10 secs.

Road racing at WOT for only a few seconds at a time.

Even a top speed run would not last that long.
I wish when I drag raced my car it was for only 8-10 sec... some day!

I thought ECS had done some standing mile/silver state classic type endurance testing with their blower kit(s)/car(s)...Might be somewhere else to look.

It is probably more like 1.5min-1.75 to cover 5 miles in a heavily modded vet.

EDIT: Interestingly, a stock C6Z will do the standing mile in 29.3 seconds and be doing close to 175mph. The 175 was essentially terminal velocity so it would need 1.4 minutes to get through the next 4 miles, meaning it needs to run WOT for 2minutes.

I got my info from this article in Motortrend that did some testing on high HP cars and standing miles. It should give some insight.

No Problem! Fast, Slow or somewhere in between, I'm just glad there are so many people interested in the TX Mile to keep it going year after year!

This will be my 3rd trip to the TX Mile and I LOVE IT! God (and Taylor) willing, I hope to join that 200+ MPH Club this time!

We did bring 2 cars out there and both did very well. No way at anytime were either anywhere near WOT for 3 minutes though. The Silver state classic is all about cooling. We had to back down on Dougs car being it was an automatic and we should have been running larger coolers. We just wanted the experience to see how the cars performed. We would love to try running the standing mile. Unfortunately there have been none local to us as of yet.

Down here, we call them trailers. You might try looking into one of those.

I am assuming it's more a time thing for you busy dudes. Maybe whoever draws the longer straw between you and Doug can bring your car down on the trailer.

I have broken trannys/rears and valve springs.........the motor burns a little oil and I will not know for sure what he used until it breaks one day. Suppose to be Callies/lunati.......He has a good rotating assembly in it for sure
Good luck on your goal!
