Default My 427 and YSi Build, My Attempt to Cure Mod Fever (Lots of Pics)

I have been driving my vette on the stock block for years without any issues. I figured it was finally time to upgrade to a forged engine. I knew that if I forged my stock block I would always want more displacement. In the end I decided on an LS7 427 for the build.

Here is a list of the major parts for the new project;

-A&A forged LS7 with Patriot Heads running 9.2 to 1
-Comp Cams 232/240 LSA 116
-A&A newest YSi SC kit with 3” pulley
-8 rib setup
-Tial BOV
-DeWitts radiator (2 inch shorter made for SC clearance)
-American Racing 1 7/8 headers
-RPM SFI flexplate
-3 Bar sensor for new tune

Carry over Parts;

-RPM Level VI Tranny
-DTE Stage 4 3.42s
-Vigilante 2600
-ECS fuel system
-Alky Control dual nozzle meth

*****UPDATE ON POST 63*****

YSi vs S-Trim

LGM 1 3/4 headers vs American Racing 1 7/8

DeWitts shortened radiator vs Stock

RPM Flexplate vs Stock

LS1 vs Forged LS7

Going to be a killer build! All the comparison pics are cool! The YSi is going to make your smile stretch from ear to ear!

I'll be keeping an eye on this one!

Looks like you're about to enjoy being at the other end of the 9 second spectrum.

Very cool Build!!

One question, Do you or does anyone for that matter have comments about the shorter dewits Rad having enough cooling capacity for high HP cars?? I also just bought this rad with the spawl fans, and my Mech was curious about the cooling since it was less surface space.

Thanks, and killer setup!

I hope it cools enough... The stock one worked great in the layed back position of Andy's old kit in the Florida heat. The DeWitts is huge in comparison and will be stood up with the new kit. I'm using the stock fans for now, if the car gets hot I'll buy the Spawl fans later. This was my feeble attempt to keep costs down.

I'll be interested in your dyno results. I have a C5R based 427 with LS7 heads and intake and an F1C Procharger. This combo made 788 RWHP (through a 6 speed manual) at only 8 pounds of boost on 93 octane gas.

8 lbs, I'm shooting for 16 lbs as a minimum.

Put your mind at ease boys this, radiator works great! I went from the regular Dewitts to this one, with zero increase in temperature. I still run the factory C5 fans to. It was nice to raise my cradle up where it belonged!

Awesome build Mike!!

Thanks for the input on the rad guys! Not saying anybody with this rad has not pushed their cars with big HP, but any direct experience with 20 to 30 minute hard runs would be great!

Thanks again, and sorry for the hijack buddy!!:o

That could happen very easily with this build IMO.
