Default Video : Funcool's Cogged 112 Maggie!

Had several requests for a video about my cogged rear pulley system on my 112 Maggie so we put one together last night.

As the video will mention, I've experienced the driver’s side head separating from the block with 20+lbs of boost. I've heard several experienced tuners mention that 18lbs is the safe limit for 5-bolt heads, and I can confirm that.
I'm not sure if I want to risk a dyno at full throttle. I'm past the safe limit of a 5-bolt head, I'm planning on changing the pulley so I'm at a safer boost level of about 15lbs. soon.

For those of you who don't know, here's my dyno with the overdrive 8-rib system I had before.
My best was about 15lbs, then the boost would slip away to 12lbs at the top rpm's.
Give you a rough idea what she should be making now . . . .

And here's the video of the current cogged system.

Man that thing builds boost fast!!

Just curious, does anyone port the Maggies? I gained ~30 rwhp from porting the 112 Eaton on my truck.

Nice video, but what's the measure of your success? That you pegged a boost gauge or blew a head gasket?

Actually LS stock blocks are 4 bolts per cylinder, your thinking of the old generation 2 chev. they had 5 bolts per cylinder. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. The little studs at the top don't add to head gasket seal.
Rob.

Is it me or is your boost gauge deceiving? With 20+lbs of boost and probably over 800 ft-lbs of torque I would've thought your tires would be screaming for mercy. I understand you have nitto drag radials, but I would imagine you could overpower them especially at lower speeds.

If you want to here my tires spin. At the end of this video you will hear it with 15lbs of boost.http://www.youtube.com/user/tlaselva.../1/bzlR90pifRg

Funcool,
You probably have a bunch of pulleys around from your experimenting, why not put a 3.4 on the front of the maggie and see where that gets you? Awesome boost instantly, great video thanks!

He could be at 25 psi for all we know .. That guage was pegged

The only way to find out if the car was actually making more power and not just heating the air would be to dyno test funcoolo.

The question is ... Who but who will you have tune it

How many guy's do you think make 20lbs of boost on this forum with a superchager? I was told 7 years ago that the maggie could not make any real boost, so I started out to prove it could. Now with the right parts it's able to make crazy boost on a 402ci motor, I'm very happy.

I have a 3.2, 2.7 and 2.4 8-rib pullies. The 2.4 is on the car right now and I'm going to try the 2.7 next. Today went by Champion motors and got a bigger alky jet from my buddy Rob. I'm going to make the car more rich.

It was good seeing you and Tony at Champion Motors! Rob has a big selection of parts in stock and can provide you with almost anything instantly. I would try the 2.7 pulley and get your car on the dyno and dial it in properly monitoring air fuel, no guessing.

I've been self tunning for 7 years now. The boost comes in so fast that it's making it a bit harder to dail the car in, I'm taking baby steps for sure. Driving around I find is the best way to tune by far. After picking Arun's brain yesterday at Champion motors I got a new plan.

My good friend Tony was dyno tunning his 427ci novi car at Champion motor. Arun the ''doctor'' was doing his magic and made 720rwh with 12lbs of boost!!! This was done a 3.5 blower pulley, low timming and very fat A/F ratio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just hope that Tony does not put on a 3.0 pulley and make my life harder!!

I thought when you order the 8-rib system from ECS you get the 3" pulley standard with the kit? Arun has tuned so many cars its a walk in the park from him, your in good hands
