Default Finally dyno'ed my new ECS S/C

I purchased a new ECS Paxton kit after I returned from Afghanistan; installed it over the Fall and finally dyno'ed it last week. Car is an '02 C-5 with mild mods: Dynotech LT headers, compact cats, 3.90 DTE diff, Hurst shifter.

The car made 332 hp /350 ft-lbs with mods listed above.

We did a "street tune" until I could make time for a dyno. Finally did the dyno and ended up after four runs getting 501 hp / 489 ft-lbs. That's with the restrictor plate on. I contemplated removing the plate for one run to "see how she'd do", but smarter minds prevailed.

I'll post the dyno results later.

One problem - I'm seeing a max of 7 lbs boost (I'm @ 5,500 elevation in ABQ), but boost decreases to around 6-6.5 lbs in the last couple seconds of the run (around 5,500 PRM). I suspect belt slippage and probably need to get the belt tighter. It feels very tight.

Any thoughts?

Gordon

That sounds like the culprit, but I am not 100% sure as I am a turbo guy. I just wanted to really say thanks for your service.

Could be the belt but it could also be the "RESTRICTOR" plate that is limiting the top end

Thanks,Matt

The restricter plate could be causing the blower to work harder up top and thereby causing belt slip.

Actually it's the opposite, less boost = less drag on the belt.

Make sure your tensioner is at or near the 12 o'clock position (meaning fully opened) if it is installed so the tensioner is just off it's stop it will do what you are seeing. Make sure your fixed idler (near PS) is in the middle or upper position, and crank the adjustable idler under the head unit pulley until the belts nearly touch.

Hope that helps, please call us if you are still having an issue, that is not the norm. Congrats on retiring! and thanks for serving.

Thanks Doug! I'll get into it and make the adjustments. I appreciate the superb customer service from you and Chris!

The blower is trying to produce maybe 10#s and you're limiting it with a restricter plate to 7#s and that would cause less drag than not restricting it???

I believe that would only be true if no plate were present and boost was based entirely on pulley size.
