Default My C5 project: 408/F1-C

Well after a lot of thought I decided to put the Camaro race car on the backburner to build a fun street car.

2002 Speedway White Coupe. I'm just waiting on the parts to arrive.

Iron 6.0 based 408 with Callies dragonslayer crank, callies rods, wiseco pistons.
Trickflow 245cc 6-bolt heads (for future upgrade should I go LSX block)
Yella Terra shaft rockers
Custom spec'd cam, Comp XFI 242/248
95lb injectors with driver
Custom sheetmetal intake to fit under stock hood.
1 7/8" ARH long tubes/LG 3" catback
Mini-tubbed
Iforged Challenge, 18x12" with Mickey Thompson 345 drag radials.

Will do an N/A break-in and then going to an F1-C.

Would like to go 9s @ full weight with A/C and stereo kicking on drag radials.

I'll try to update with pics as I get them. I'm excited!

Stock LS6 intake
LG Pros/borla stingers
4L80e 3200 converter
DTE stage 4, 3.42s
Mini-tubbed
Iforged TE-16s, 18x12" with Hoosier 335 drag radials.

Don't really have a goal for it, don't know what to expect other than a real handful.

Going to break it in N/A and install an 8-rib F1-C in July.

I'll try to update with pics as I get them. I'm excited!

It looks like it is going to be a great build!
A 408 with an F-1C is capable of making a lot of power.

Check out what this 402/F-1C C5 did with reusing the Patriot LQ9 stage 2 heads from the previous 346. Bob

The sounds like a great build! Make sure you a proper fuel system to support that level of power.

Good Luck

Sounds like an easy 900+rwhp build.

forgot to add the 95lb injectors and driver box. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm interested to see what it puts down before the blower goes on.

Parts have started to arrive! I haven't committed to the Procharger yet...can someone talk me into a turbo? For twins, I wouldn't go smaller than 67s. I'd rather do a single for simplicity's sake but I don't think I've heard of many single turbo Corvettes out there. I won't go smaller than an 88mm if I went single.

Thinking about a custom kit if noone offers one like I want.

Stay with the blower, the turbo kits still haven't caught up with us blower cars.

Guess I kicked up a little controversy with some misunderstood remarks on another thread. Sorry guys! Didn't mean it the way it must have sounded. The HP and PTK kits are really the only kits I've seen that allow for larger turbos.

PTK is a ton of crap on top of the engine bay but it damn sure means business.
Anyone have anything on HP's kit? I think it's pretty cool how they placed the turbos inside the fenders but at the same time, wow what a pain in the **** to work on.

I think the Henson single turbo kit is pretty nice but a 76 just isn't going to cut the mustard for my build.

It seems like anything short of a full custom kit for my car just doesn't compare to the F1-C...

We did an HP kit many years ago, which is shown here.

either FI will get you big HP.

the blowers are much easier, cheaper.

if you want turbos, the TTiX can get you to 1k rwhp I believe if setup correctly.

I'm a turbo guy so I'm biased, but there is no doubt that the blowers make huge HP.

engines don't care, CFM is CFM

I'm also a turbo guy but the TTiX isn't enough turbo for my kind of crazy. The Camaro is getting a 106 if that paints the picture.

What about putting the C6 Z06 APS kit on? It will take a little patience working with the fitment (from what Ive been told) but it will put out crazy numbers.

I would expect the TTix to put out more than the C6 Z06 APS kit or something close. Neither one is 106mm turbo crazy or anywhere close. A 106mm is pro-mod kinda crazy.

106 MM turbo is one BIG turbo.

if you are talking full blown race car, great

for street, first hook 1k at the wheels and then decide if you need more

Louis at LG was telling me that a C6Z APS kit will put out 1100 at 18 psi. I know the TTi kit is capable of that also, and with the fitment being easier I would imagine.

Either way, neither one of these kits compare to a 106mm single. Nor have I ever seen a turbo that big on a C5. The blower you have in mind is probably the best bet since it makes no difference to you on which method of FI goes on the car

The Camaro will still see some street driving but I'm not going to say it's not a race car.
Hooking 1,000+ on the street is not an option. More is always better though.

That said, I'm sticking with the F1-C. I don't want to drop that kind of money into a custom turbo set-up on what really is a fair-weather daily driver.
