Default 408 + S91 Hits the Dyno

New setup ran flawlessly on the dyno. Made 18 back to back pulls and didn't use a drop of oil or push a drop of water. Ran out of WG spring or we would have gone higher.

722whp 653wtq 14psi pump gas
908whp 771wtq 19psi good gas

Dyno was a Superflow AutoDyn 30 with eddy current load cell. This dyno is notorious for low readouts. On the graph I included my baseline 408 run without the turbo kit installed. 390whp 367wtq!

Video of the pulls. Turbo really comes alive at the end.

Nicely done Chris. Looks like our S91 is doing the deed quite wheel. Crank her up to 24-26psi and she what she does, just make sure the heads are nice and tight.

Also with a Superflow your down 10-15% to a Dynojet depending on what they inputed for your variables. On a Dynojet your into the 1000-1075rwhp range.

I tried for 21psi but couldn't get any more out of the controller with a .6bar spring in the gate.

The L19 head studs are doing their job. The S91 is just starting to scream at 16psi. The guys running the dyno had the load set waayyyy to low, it took forever to get it spooled. It spools faster on the street than it did on the dyno this time. Thanks for an awesome turbo

They want to, but the clearences are sooo tight, it would be near impossible. When I was talking to them, they were telling me there is spots where theres less than 1/4" clearence on the pipes. So little, that if the motormounts are bad, it can make things hit.
Theres no way they can sell this as a kit setup.

The whole time I watched the video I was like gee that sure seems like it doesnt have much load on it. How does the load affect dyno numbers?

Talk about a peak...it almost looks like my biceps peak.

That should be a great setup for the strip!

Your baseline dyno numbers don't look that far off for a low compression 408cid. Most stock C6 Z06s with high compression 427s are right around 450 whp out of the box.

no load on the dyno will make any turbo setup look like peak setup.

I couldn't build much boost because of the the no load and that's why the graph comes on so strong up top. Here is the break down per rpm:

3k 0psi
4k 5psi
5k 13psi
6k 18psi

Give me that 18psi or even 13psi at 4k rpm and the graph will look completely different. Peak numbers would be close I'm sure. Not that it matters. I am after the time slip

I have ran my setup on both a load an non load and the graph doesn't look a whole lot different....about 200 rpm difference but the result of using a load dyno was that it developed a little more tq and a little less peak hp.

So I am familiar with how it works....if this was on a load dyno the graph would not shift to the left more then a 2-300 rpms.

This observation should not be misinterpretted as anything other then a fact.

What I am seeing more then anything is a setup that works very well with minimum back pressure and that allows the power to pull up to max redline. That's why I said it looks like it will be a great setup for the strip....like a lot of big single turbos are.

Most people running these aren't to worried about launching under 4K rpms...so they are spooled up and into the turbo's sweet spot right out of the gate....good think about having a v8 is that there is plenty of power off of boost for normal driving...if there is such a thing as normal driving when you have a turbo'd v8.

So 200-300 rpm is all you saw. Do you recall how much load was being applied?

Launching off the 2-step is a must at the track.
