Did a Lingenfelter Auto 427ci run mid 8's?
A buddy of mine is at the track right now and he was talking to a guy who claims to own a Yellow 427ci TT Auto Vette that has gone 8.60's. I just asked my buddy to get more details of the car. Has anyone ever heard of this guy? He lives in Sarasota, Florida.

I think the guy he is referring to is that Norm guy WHO TYPES IN ALL CAPS.
The one who talked about the "Sledgehammer" car.
But I honestly cant see a C6Z with the IRS run 8.60's..

well, this car went 226.25 in a standing mile and has a calculated top speed with wind drag of 300mph and made 1300 rwhp, so IF the car stuck to the ground and IF the irs is still in it and it didn't break, then I know it's possible and it's yellow!

No mention of a quarter mile run, but maybe they haven't had time to post it. Either way I want one of these cars for each hand, a large fry and a Coke please!!

Well, you just took out 2 of the most important equations. Hell, if that was the case, the average ET for all high HP cars would be in the 8's.

heres an 8:95, I think it would be possible giving every aspect is perfect. I know form 8:95 to 8:60's takes alot more power but who knows.
Here is an IRS 8:60 but it is not a lingenfelter

Im sure if LPE had an 8.60 auto car, we would prob. know about it... Lpe would post all over the boards, and boost business...
So that claim was prob. BS....

Not to mention the fact that an 8.60 6spd would take ALOT of engineering. Something like that couldnt be built in someones garage. It would take the help of some pretty big guys. THEN, it would be plastered all over the different forums.
True, but some peeps could careless if anyone knows what they run at the track... Even the peeps who have fast cars including LSx based cars...

You just seem to know everything.... In fact it would not take alot of engineering, just a little know how. There are plenty of people who could do it if they wanted to.. If im not mistaken we are talking about an auto..
Also, it could be done in someone's garage... Just cause you say it cant be done, dont mean it cant be done...

I've personally seen garage built F-bodies and Mustangs running in the 8's that are still very much streetable... been a small part of building more than one of them. Just because it doesn't have a multi-million dollar name on it and it isn't plastered all over the internet doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I know a Vette costs more and the IRS is a big hurdle, but it is nowhere close to impossible. Just my $.02
