I have had my Supra for almost 2 years now. The ONLY issues I have had is poor vendor support. Most of the places that are so called VENDORS on the Supra Forums are nothing but prior shade tree mechanics feeding off of someone else's R and D. You ask a question and you can never get a straight answer. All they are good at are changing parts. Many on the Supra Forums lie about things they have done ONLY to get someone else to try it. SF is full of trolls. I have many local Supra friends that are not rich, but they turn their own wrenches. 95% of the ones I know make over 800rwhp and only one has blown up his engine and that was due to poor tuning on his part. Three of my friends making over 800rwhp all run between a 74mm to 76mm turbo, upgraded fuel, clutch, valvetrain, and cam. Heads are stock along with the pistons and rods. They all trap over 145mph in the 1/4th and they have maybe 15 to 20k into their cars. All except one has driven trouble free. They usually ride around on pump gas making around 610rwhp and drive there cars quite often.
As with any car it depends on your power level when it comes to maintenance. To compare a 2 to 5 year old car with a 10 to 14 year to me is just silly. If you buy both used the maintenance will depend on how well the previous owner took care of the car. Everything has wear and tear.

What I miss about my 1995 TT Supra was everything I bought for that bitch, all the instructions were in Japanese! That was a while back though hope they have gotten better!

My 5.0 with home ported heads and not much else put down 314rwtq at 3500rpm and frustrated most of the LS1 owners back in 1998 until people started figuring out what to do with the awesome LSx engines

I have always loved the Supras. Funny they haven't dropped in value in years. SW has a beautiful white street driven Supra. I would trade him in a heartbeat!

Supras are AWESOME cars and anyone that calls that car "rice" is not a true car guy or just ignorant. It really boils down to exactly what you want the car for, how you like the power delivered, and which cars looks attract you more. Vette or Supra you cannot go wrong.

I've had some fun with Supras. First one I ran the passenger got out and swore I was spayin' LOL! Next time he came back with race gas and the car left me like I was standing still. I was N/A at the time though, love to try it again boost vs. boost.
If you do get one, make sure you either know how to work on them yourself or know someone who does. The shops that do (at least around here in South Texas) charge some pretty fat coin to mod and tune them (although I will say that when they do it they do it right). My friend has his sitting in his driveway in pieces trying to do what he can while saving to have it professionally done. When he does good lord we are gonna have some fun!!!!!
