Default 10 sec Rearmount Turbo C5 Pics, Videos, Results

Over the past few months I pieced together a rearmount single turbo kit on my C5. The car worked great last year on the nitrous, but I grew tired of filling the bottle, so after some research I decided to take the FI plunge. I removed the G5x3 cam and installed an 02+ LS6 cam w/ Comp 918's. I kept the RPM Trans, Fuddle 3600 Stall convertor, Line Lock, and MT ET streets from last year.

The rest of the turbo kit consists of:

Exhaust/Turbo:
Z06 manifolds
2.5" (x2) to 3" 304ss merge collector
3" 304ss exhaust pipe
Heat Wrap, Exhaust hangers, gaskets, flanges, etc..
PT76GTS
Tial 44 WG .6 bar spring

Oil feed/Return:
-4 SS feed line
Check Valve
-10 SS line (turbo to pump)
REV GP-301 Oil return pump
Various Lines and fittings

Intercooler/Charge pipe:
3" Aluminum Charge pipe (Various bends and straight sections)
Tial 50mm BOV
Top/Bottom Intercooler (27x12x4)
Silicon and T-bolt Clamps

Intake: 4x9"" Filter on turbo

Fuel System/Controls:
Twin intake Walbro pumps
-8 feed line
Billet Rails
Aeromotive 1:1 FPR
Various Fittings
Motron 60# injectors
2 Bar Map sensor
HP Tuners 2 bar SD BlueCat tune 9.5psi Pump Gas

Here are a few work in progress pics

Here's a video from a dyno session
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/3...eb00022fad.htm

The convertor wasn't workng well on the dyno, it slipped a lot and didn't put down much power. Sounds cool though.

Here's a burnout video:
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/9...00017aa42a.htm

And finally...
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/1...00017a25f4.htm

It went 10.85@126 and 6.99@100 on a soft 1.69 60'
It also went 10.86@125.8 later that day. I'll try to scan slips and post up some more videos next week.

I ordered a tighter convertor upgrade from Fuddle, should be here today, hopefully that will help get the 60's back into the low 1.5 like last year. I'm very happy with the car, how it drives, how it moves down the track, and the fact that I still drive it EVERY day with very few issues. Thanks to Dan, RTC, and all my friends who helped me get it together.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. Enjoy.

Wow looks very similar to our kit!

I know you must love the car!

What numbers do you think it put down on 9PSI?

I do love it!

I didn't know anyone had a single reamount kit available, the real inspiration for my build was Stealth99, Mike Romain. that car is AWESOME!

It's probably in the 540rwhp range, based on MPH and ET and weight.

Good stuff!

Dyno Dynamics, APS, Autronic. The Australians are on top of it!

I love the Autronic. I ran an SMC on my old DSM into the low 10, low 140's, I also tune on SM2 on a high8/low9 4G63 Conquest. We have many units in Supras and Mitsus running around here. It's simple, reliable, and tuneable. I wish some of the more modern software (AEM) worked as well.

Thank you. I don't know if you remember talking to me on the phone, but you answered a lot of my questions and really convinced me to go for it. Thanks again, and good luck with your new setup.

Nice pictures and videos.

Did you have to cut the floor in the back to get the turbo in ?

I am entertaining the thought of either an ECS Paxton System or a rear single turbo system like you have.

Got finish up the body kit, suspension, tranny conversion and interior this year and then next year work on some motor options.

Good luck with your set-up.

You can get a good idea of what kind of money I have in it by going through my parts list above. I haven't totaled it up, but it's probably in the $5K range on turbo system and fuel system parts. There's nothing exotic, it's all off the shelf parts available from vendors. Good luck if you decide to put together something similiar.

Thanks Brian & Bobby
