I was just thinking about how many of you guys have played around with different types of setups spending alot of cash in the process.
So using the knowladge and information you have now. How would you guys setup your mod path? (if you planned on having 700RWHP+ eventualy)
A. forged 402 1st transmission/driveline 2nd turbos or s/c 3rd.
B. turbo/sc on stock block 1st, transmission/driveline 2nd, forged engine 3rd.
c. an alternative route not listed.

I would have saved the 24k i spent on my 85 monte ss, bro's camaro and the h/c on my z06 now and went with a forged 400+ ci setup and a KB 2.8 blower. Im still going to do this but now it's just gonna take a couple of years to get all the money together because things always go wrong and im not going to start until I have at least 30k to burn.

Well I am one who went from 317 rwhp to 742 rwhp all at once. A plan was put together and resulted in a solid setup that I am very happy with.
Started with a great plan
A&A DS1C
A&A Forged 346
West Coast Heads
Heart of the operation and then all the supporting mods to support my setup and it has been a great 1 1/2 years behind a boosted Vette, not sorry for one minute. We used all off the shelve middle of road items, many of them used, like the blower. I say put a plan together to fit your goals and budget, this will make things eaiser like what I did

I've gone from stock to boltons to a ProCharger to TT's with mild heads/cam and a built T56 driveline to a forged 346 with very good heads and cam and an auto trans.
If I had to do it all over again I'd probably to a 388, 402, or 408 with TT's.
This isn't to say that I'm unhappy in any way with my combo, but if I were doing it again I'd probably step up the cubeage a little.

If I had all the money I have spent on my Vette in the last four years I think I could retire
However it has been a blast and I wouldn't change a thing

I went route b, the only thing that broke so far has been my trans, but then again im not looking for 700 hp on the stock motor. I went, turbos, trans, and now am in the process of Booost contrller and methanol, to crank up the boost and if and when the motor gives ill forge it. Im also in the process of some suspension mods too, I dont only enjoy going fast in a straight line

When I went Vette shopping I was just looking for a regular C5, not a Z06. I didn't think of doing any mods, just a stocker to drive. Well, of course I sat in the Z06 and was sold. Plus, I thought since it has more power I definitely wont do any mods. Ha, that didn't last to long. Now it is blown with close to 600rwhp with a new motor being built right now. So the only thing I would have done differently is stuck with the C5 and not go Z06. It would have saved me a bunch of money at the time.

Depends on whether you have the extra cash to pay for the additional labor..
If you do your own work, I would stay stock and put turbo's in for 600rwhp. May need a clutch with clutch dumps and you'll be okay with the drivetrain for a bit. Put the motor and drivetrain in when needed.
If you're paying for labor, have the means then doing it all at once, would be my choice.
This maximizes the time to actually go out and enjoy what you have.
