Default First day out to the track with new combo-close but not close enough!

Hey guys, the Mustang club rented Sparta today and where nice enough to let me come out with them to test the car out. Weather started out good then got up to eighty's but still not too bad, but the track just wasn't up to par. But I did learn alot and need alot of practicing on my shifting-a year off has left me pretty rusty! Anyway car is a 02 Z06, stock bottom end with 317 truck heads, a mild cam(222/228), SW headers, factory cats, A&A P1SC kit making 10psi, ECS/Alky control meth kit. Car was tuned to 11.0 on the dyno and today at the track my logs where showing an AFR of 11.3 right across the board-tune was perfect! BUT I couldn't launch for the life of me-even with a tire pressure of 10 psi( I started out at 16-to save my rear!) Car would spin through first and second even when babied out of the hole. 60 fts where in the 1.9 range with a best 1.82, eight mile was in the 101-102 range and the quarter was trapping around 131-132. I'm sure there is a 10 second pass in there somewhere-I hope! Thanks to Don(Slowhawk), Nick(BlownZ06), Julio( Alky control), Doug (ECS) for answering all my questions and everyone else on this forum for all the tips and insight into the FI C5 world.

Here is a few passes from today:

Takes practice.. that is for sure.

Burn out and launch is everything for getting good ET's.

MPH is about where I would expect it.

I did long burn outs-short burn outs-it just didn't matter. I went from 16lbs to 10's and it still didn't matter. This is the reason that they rarely hold any bige events at Sparta anymore. At the same time-there is a really relaxed atmosphere at the track and it's not not waiting or being rushed. Thanks for kind words guys and thanks for all the help Nick.

I went to the track today and my frist pass ran 11.07@131mph with a 1.75 short and got kicked off. I didn't even heat up the tires, I'm so mad I just want to sell the car, all the money I spent and I can't even race the car. Then on the way home got pulled over by M.T.O and gave me $365 fine and said "nice car"

Scotty-I have the stock 3.42 rear with both hardened shafts-short and long. I also have the DTE brace. for clutch I'm using the RAM HD with a Billet Flywheel. For $380 it seems to be doing quite well. Also the pressure plate is rebuildable and you can buy anew disc for $150. the pedal effort is stiff but I don't mind it one bit-still alot better than my old 5.0 Mustang cable operated clutches. Tires is the CCW drag pack

Funcool-where just T&T or did you participate in the American Supercar challange? Also what did the MTO burn you with?

Thanks for the encouraging words guys

In the 1/4 mile what gear did you finish in & what rpm. Sorry for all the questions, I am preparing to beef up my diff with both shafts or I was CONSIDERING a 3.73 DTE unit. My 1/4 runs I cross in 3rd about 6600rpm or having to hit 4th gear.

Scott-I was in 4th crossing around 5800. Not optimal but if I had more gear the launch would be even harder. The MN12 tranny in the Z06 is really not suited for drag racing. Next year I plan on adding another 100rwhp-this way my 3.42's will be perfect!

I have the MN6 with taller gears 1st thru 3rd. 1st with an MN6 & 3.42 is not too good off the line for me, and the need to hit 4th for the last 50-100ft just plain sucks. I have 606rwhp & 505rwtq on Michelin Pilot Sports & leave about 3k rpm. 1.92 60ft, 11.83et, 122mph, & I missed 4th. I am still learning how to drag the car & I am having problems with my clutch hydraulics being to slow for my RPS clutch. I am installing a pedal stop to help untill I can install a RAM high flow slave cylinder & or do the "Drill Mod". What is your HP TQ #'s?

Scott Im making the same power but my torque is only 488( running factory cats and lower compression)-so with a good track and launch we should both be in the 10's!

That would be a dream come true! I have a good track at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown Texas, it's the driver & the car that need work.
