Oil temps on the other hand are higher than normal. Frwy cruising they settle in at 230-239. When under heavier loads 250-255, so far. I'm about to install the new Dewitts combination EOC/radiator. I've heard they are good for 20 degrees cooler on average oil temps, which should be just fine for my purposes. I've also read that there is a small oil pressure drop associated with this setup. With my current pressures, I believe this will not be an issue and leave the pressure range within normal paramaters. After the install and some drive time in various weather conditions I'll get back to you.

Z, you know that A&A IC setup you have is a faulty design. Those coolant temps of 185 are WAYYYYYYYY too low. I would seriously consider a complete re-design and relocation of that IC......

Just got A&A's S trim & a 402. Bringing it home to San Diego today through all the lovely L.A. traffic at about 3:00pm, my oil temps were runnig 230-235 with water 199-207 highest. For my own education what temps would be considered as getting to hot?

How do you guys in the L.A. area cope with that mess??

How about those 255 degree oil temps... Mike, you know the reality of that situation has been discussed here in the F/I section... soooo many overheating s/c cars are looking for a solution...at least I have offered one. I don’t know why you refer to the low end of these coolant temps as a factor as to whether the A&A product is properly engineered. As you know, its IATs, not coolant temps that detonate motors….they are not interchangeable terms. A stock C5 will see 230+ degree coolant temps on very hot summer days…. but yet these motors survive just fine. Very high IATs will detonate a motor regardless of the coolant temps… the A&A product stuffs all the heat extraction components into one small cavity which accounts for the tremendous heat buildup and high IATs. The higher hp, especially the big cube motors, magnify the heat buildup problem. I guess you have a reason for cheerleading for A&A, but in light of the data produced by my new design the difference in performance is obvious.

Hey Rick

I am picking up my B&M Racing tranny pan for installation this week on my new RPM Level 4 tranny.

Also my new tranny cooler will be a Maggie heat exchanger. It will have twice the cooling surface area of my Setrab cooler. Plus it is a two pass cooler. Andy is very confident this will kick *** cooling my new tranny.

I hope I don't melt this one too ........

Howie! can I have your old Setrab cooler. I need it to keep my oil temps under 300 degrees so I can chase you around the track. My mod money is depleted at present but I can give you my IOU.

Why don't you post your heat loss experience opening the engine bay to the side vent

Howie! I know it's pitiful that I am in need of your handmedowns but I promised Andy at A&A that I would pay off my tab before next Christmas. And I just thought you might want to help an old friend with his oil temp dilemma.

Since this hadn't been mentioned yet....

I've only read positive results and if my next mods don't work to lower temps it'll be the next thing I try.

In your recent pics, I don't see the bottom air dam on your tiger shark. Are you using one. Wouldn't that help in a similar way?

I have this on my car... and I am getting a new one in a few days to modify and see if I can improve on what I already have.

You actually made me run into the computer room to check out if the company computer rack shelves would work. They just might!!!

HP: the stock airdams I don't use (and yes that's not helping) and the bigmouths would just work better.

VR: modifications? alky's working again buddy.. must go on a drive!!

My car goes into the shop in a week for a few new things... hopefully when I get it back, it will work much better than before.
