true.

but the gt2 driver probably thought his sheeyat didn't stink, and got it handed right back in his face! oh how fun i love contests like that!

did just such a thing to a sharp looking c4s the other day. guy thought he was fast while driving straight (duh), lost his nuts as we dove into a 180 degree 25 mph sweeper which i regularly take at 48-50, and then he got seriously spanked as i blasted out of the apex courtesy of 365rwhp/358 rwtq with about 10 car lengths in front of him, and counting. absolutely no contest whatsoever! oh yeah then he "blew" by me doing 75-80 on the freeway about a mile later, while i was just tooling along at 65-70. lah dee dah...

most porsche or modena drivers i've encountered won't challenge my z06 because they could, rightfully, care less that my car which is about, oh, $100k less can run with--or beat--them! just like we vette folks often could care less that a wrx wants to run with us. it's still an econobox!

When I was supercharged I got called out by a GT2. Ironically, they never got to setting up a date to race even though I called them a few times.

Eh, I'd rather have a Chevrolet than a high $ Volkswagen!

speaking of high end volkswagens, yesterday i saw the vw phaeton for the 1st time on the road. mind you, i live in south orange county and if there's a new car to be had, it's here. routinely see murcielago's, carrera gt's, bentley coupes are now ubiquitous, maybach's, all types of benzes, porsches, modenas a dime a dozen, etc.... and this is the 1st time i've seen that super luxo vw.

it must not be selling well, eh?

I understand is hasn't...

...but I knew this would be a problem for VW, they've got a car with a S Class pricetag, being sold by a manufacturer with a totally misaligned demographic: age, mindset, price, etc., are all wrong.

People who are in the market for some along those lines will probably look at a A8/S8 from Audi (if not the S or 7's from Merc/BMW).

Neat car though!

Neat car though!

This car will become the next marketing study in college classes. Car is built in a glass factory in Dresden, Germany - quite nice, but all parts are shipped in and final assembly is just accomplished there. Part of the build up of old East Germany after the reunification. The Phaeton comes with a lot of engine variations - but the problem is the emblem on the back -- VW -- tough sell on a $80000 - $120000 car! VW could have put a Bently emblem on it and sold bunches of baby bentleys. Too late now -- bad marketing.

I had a new 911 turbo convertible fly up on me yesterday as I was cruising up to the Gym. I moved over, he got next to me and jumped on it. I let him get about 4-5 cars up, then I down shifted to 3rd, got on it a reeled him right in, as I switched lanes to pass right bye him....I could see him look over in embarrasment, so I gave him a little wave at about 135-140......

It is fun, but I have been on the other end of that spanking in my 98 Vette at the time, when a little ricer pulled that Sh#$ on me on the highway. but as said before, I would rather have been driving my slower Vette over his Ricer, and they Guy in the Porsche would probably rather be driving his Porsche than my Vette. It's all in fun!
