** WINTER SALE ** '98 Pace Car, 6-spd, 16k, some mods, extended warranty, $33,990
***** PRICE REDUCED: Was $36,900... Now $34,990 *****
***** WINTER SALE: Now only $33,990 *****
1998 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
Indy 500 Pace Car replica (#870 of 1163 cars)
6-speed manual transmission (1 of 547 w/ 6-spd)
16,050 miles
Price has been dropped to rock bottom at $33,990. This is a very low mile, nice example of a Pace Car, with all the right modifications to bring the performance, exhaust note, and stereo up a notch to better match up with the looks of the car. This car took home a 3rd place award at our local club's car show last year.
'Radar Blue' exterior w/ black interior and top with the Indy 500 Pace Car graphics on the hood and sides of the car. Seats are yellow and black... wheels are '97-99 style, painted yellow w/ a polished lip. The cars also have yellow stitching on the steering wheel, shift boot, shift ****, and parking brake boot... floor mats are embroidered with the Indy 500 logo. The Pace Cars also have the yellow 'Corvette' windshield baner. The Pace Cars were loaded with all available options, except for no optional suspensions available. The Active Handling system debuted on the Pace Cars.
Car has the following modifications:
- Firestone Firehawk SZ-50EP run-flats (just installed @14K)
- B&B PRT Exhaust
- Corsa X-Pipe
- Donaldson Blackwing
- Vortex Power Duct
- Nylon MAF ends (no screens)
- B&M Ripper
- Rolled/Polished Exhaust Plate
- Euro (Amber) Taillamps
- Euro (Amber) Sidemarkers
- Tinted Windows
- Lowered
I've also got close to $4000 in aftermarket stereo equipment/install:
- Pioneer DEH-P9200R CD Head Unit (last year's top-of-the-line : $600)
- Pioneer 12-disc changer
- Rockford Fosgate 600a4 4-channel amp (75x4)
- Rockford Fosgate 500a2 2-channel amp (500x1)
- Infinity Perfect 12" sub
- Infinity Reference 6 1/2" components (front)
- Infinity Reference 5 1/4" coax (rear)
- 1 farad capacitor (Cadence) w/ digital voltage readout
The sub-box is custom fabricated into the center well. The amps and capacitor are custom fabricated into an amp rack with a fiberglass center trim piece that is painted body color and has Pace Car graphics attached... (see stereo pics in below post).
A couple people have asked if I can take the stereo out and drop the price. If you look at the pics, you will see how the stereo has been integrated into the car as if it came that way. It's just too much trouble to try to take it all out. If you see it and listen to it, you'd agree that it should stay. Lost cargo space is minimized and it really helps set the car off at a car show.
Car has a 3-year extended warranty on it, which has about a year and a half left now.
The car was lowered by a previous owner and I don't think he got an alignment done afterwards. The front Goodyears wore out prematurely, so that's why the new Firehawks were installed at only 14k miles. The rears weren't too bad, but I went ahead and replaced them all 4 at once. A 4 wheel alignment was also just recently performed to prevent the fronts from wearing out prematurely again.
Selling due to family situation. My wife and I adopted a little girl from Guatemala to the tune of about $30k... priorities change and I no longer need this car. We have 4 kids now, and I need to have a car with a back seat that doesn't cost so much.
The car is a blast to drive and I'm going to hate to see it go. I've got a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 to replace it, but it's just not even close to the Vette. This car needs absolutely nothing. Just a good home and some occasional exercise... maybe a few more perfomance parts to pick up where I left off.
Here are a couple pictures of the car. I've got a digital camera, so I can take close-ups of any areas that you want to see...
This car is located in Bentonville, Arkansas (up in the northwest corner).

Ed,
If you golf (We do).................
With the top up, can you still fit 2 full size golf bags over the stereo equipment?

If you are interested in the car and need to know for sure, I can find a friend with some gear and try it out...

Re: Golfing (98pace#870)
I can back Ed up on this. (it was my golf bag). Could have put 2 of them in there with no problem. I have a standard golf bag and it fit well enought that you could have put 2 in easily, might even be able to get the top down with room to spare.

Re: '98 Pace Car
TTT - I'm thinking about getting another F-body... if anyone out there has a '98+ WS6 w/ M6 (any color but black), I'd be interested in a trade... I'll swap for fair market value between the cars, but I've got to get $10k+ difference out of the Vette to be able to do it.
Not interested in any swaps for a $30k Collector Edition convertible... gotta get some cash back and pay off some debt.
