If the only "con" you found when looking at a car was the color...
Would you pass? I just test drove a '99 convertible 6 speed with every possible option...with 52k miles, in near perfect condition. It's in my price range...he wants $14,500 firm. Car is all stock, adult owned, new run flats...no issues. BUT...it's Pewter Metallic. One of the colors I told myself I wouldn't consider when I started shopping. I only wanted red (various shades), black or blue. I said I wouldn't get white, yellow or grey (various shades!). I will say however, that it looked much better in person than it did in the pictures...but it still doesn't excite me when I look at it. Not in the same way a black or blue one does.

So, my pro's and con's list are as follows:
PRO's:
convertible
immaculate shape
low miles
not modified
adult owned
all service records
new tires
it's local
skip shift already done
all options - hud display / selective suspension / multi cd etc. etc.
below blue book value and within my price range
CON's:
color
I can't decide if that's enough of a deal breaker for me. I know everyone says "wait for the right car"...but on paper this one is so perfect...I don't know what I should do!
What would YOU do in my situation?

Color has been a deal breaker for me.
I have passed on several before. I don't care for green or yellow.
I don't really like white, but I bought one anyway. I wound up selling it a couple of months ago so I can look for a blue or metallic red one.
My tastes are different from yours however, I like the pewter color and I have a pewter 99 FRC.
Tough choices. Good luck with your decision/search.

Interesting problem you have here and its totally subjective, for me I like just about every color. The only exception is yellow really, dont get me wrong they look great. But eventually if I owned it Id come outside and be tired of it, so no way Id buy a yellow one.
If its enough of a problem that itll keep you from fully enjoying the car then I would pass. Seems like a good price for a nice car though, so your call.
Edit: add dark green to one I wouldnt own as well.

A good car at a good price is really hard to find as you've discovered.
The color will grow on you. Condition issues will just **** you off.
One thing I'm not a fan of is a pewter car with gray wheels. I think those particular Corvette wheels are among the drabbest ever. I think that car would really stand out with a set of polished C6Z wheels.
BTW, the chick in the background has pretty nice body, too.

I've never been able to pick the color of my car. To me, the performance of the vehicle and the value of the deal are my top two priorities. Eventually I learn to love the color, but at first I usually don't. Its funny because at one point I ended up with 3 red cars, all by chance.
So just decide what are your two (or three) biggest priorities. If you have your heart set on a color, and that is one of the more important factors, then act accordingly.

Color is expensive to change, and color is important to me. So I understand your concern. However, with that said pewter is by far my favorite color on a C5. I wish they would bring it back on the C6, as well. But what you like is the important part in this decision.

I finally decided that there was way too much upside to this car to let it slip past! The seller and I came to a verbal agreement of $14,000 and I'm meeting him tomorrow to give him the money! Thanks for all the advice guys!! I'll do up a complete thread with loads of pics when I get the car!!

It's your money, therefore it's your choice.
Pewter can be a really beautiful color with a little chrome, my opinion. Why don't you try and photoshop some chrome/polished rims and see how it makes the color stand out. The current rims just wash out against the Pewter.
If you still don't like the car with a little chrome then move on, plenty of vettes out there. Of course, buying new rims will now bring the price of the car up. Just something else to think about. Good luck.

It took me almost a year to find a Nassau Blue FRC (the only color I wanted) and I finally found it in Texas last April. Get what you want to avoid remorse later.

just keep looking for your car, it will take some time but it will be well worth it in the end

There are too many other great cars out there to settle for one with a color you didn't want to begin with
