I wouldn't go as far as saying they are "threats" I think a majority of the people who say that want to avoid the fees etc associated with those avenues.

But like I have said over and over and over again....just because it is posted here doesn't mean you must respond to it.

Like the forum rules state:

Quote:
If you don’t like the price or item being offered in for sale thread, take it to e-mail or PMs. Better still, just move on to a thread that is offering something you like the price on.

If you post a criticism of the price or the quality of the item being offered, you will be in violation of Forum rules and subject to sanctions.

If you post your own for sale items to the for sale thread started by someone else, you also are in violation of Forum rules. Start your own thread, rather than jumping into the thread of someone else.

If your contribution to a for sale thread does not advance the sale, you are in the way.

If you spot inappropriate posts to a for sale thread, please alert a moderator.

it really doesn't get any simpler than that folks...really.

if the seller doesn't get any bites they can adjust their price or ask for OBJECTIVE criticism or suggestions as to why their car didn't sell....there is no reason to bash someone or say they are nuts for asking $XX,XXX for their car. Lets be honest everyone would love to get top dollar for their car..I mean isn't your Vette the best one out there??

My 99 is worth maybe mid $20's according to any of the books....but I have the Maggie the cam the exhaust, MCM hood, paint work...etc etc etc....so in MY opinion its woth much more...can I get it?? I don't know. It is insured for more than that because I know if I wreck it there is no way in hell the insurance would pay me for more than book value without a fight. Hell I can't even replace a wheel now since they are no longer made unless I find one for sale here. I have aboslutely no idea what I would list it for if I had to sell it.

I am a Corvette enthusiast and I would pay more for a low mileage C5 or any Corvette with low miles. If you think a Corvette is just a car then you should not even be allowed to post here. 80% of the sellers here are willing to come off their price. 99% of so called buyers make offers that are lowball and they can't even afford even if the offer was accepted. Go read for sale ads. How many have some moron saying he would buy the car if it were available in a month? If I was a seller and that guy gave me a good faith deposit I would hold the car for a month. That guy wanting the car next month couldn't buy that car next year let alone next month. It's called good faith. You don't offer a guy a lowball price on these boards. Go to Autotrader and lowball sellers.
90% of all statistics are made up!

Right on just as the buyer is protecting their investment so are all the buyers. Who in the heck wants to purchase an over priced car just to take that loss in the rear when you try to resell it. I am in this for #1 and I have been on here for over 9 months now and I am very very close to buying a car. I also know this market is soft and I am thinking about waiting till the 08's come out to get an even better deal on a nice used vette.

Agree you'd be better w/a 08...you get the 5 yr. warranty..and C5 is
basically 10 year old technology from 1997...with some
nice updates w/ active handling and HUD over the years.
Still it was and is a great looking car.

If you wait until the C7 comes out in about 4 years you may be able to get an even better deal. Hell, if you wait for the C8, you will be able to pick up a C5 for next to nothing. But using that logic, is like buying a 1984 Vette today. Maybe 84 Vettes were cool 20 years ago, but I wouldnt own one now if you gave it to me.

Seems like this thread is full of cry babies who are asking too much for their car. They are almost as pitiful as the guy with "title in hand", who doesn't need to sell but will let you have the pleasure of taking his 1 of 20,000 Z off his hands. They claim "yeah it's 5K over priced, but it's clean." Go look at it and it's just like the other 500 that are for sale. Some brain dead claimes that 99% of the posts in this section are ricers and dreamers, yet you see cars sell on here almost daily. I am a Viper owner with a soft spot for the Z. The 04 at 32K is getting close to the price that most car guys like myself will pay. I am not a Corvette enthusiast, just an automobile enthusiast. Bad thing is pools are closing and kids are going back to school which means Fall is just areound the corner and I feel prices will drop 1-2K with the cold weather. For every guy who bashes an add because the asking price is too expensive there is someone who pumps up the car who has never seen let alone driven said car. They do more harm than the bashers. They could sway someone to purchase a lemmon.

Yeah, and that 04 for 32k, is priced so low that there is a dealer interested. That lets you know how low it is, and yet all these guys, such as yourself, who are "getting close" still wont jump on it. if I were inthe market for an 04Z and this one came up, it would be sold in about 10 seconds. Buyers want the cars for nothing, and hope they run into the desperate seller that has to get rid of it. if you guys want the cars for wholesale, go get your dealers licence and buy them at auction.

Not saying you're wrong but rather as you know dealers play shell games with trade-ins. Get a buy price from the dealer in writing for your Z06 and then a separate price for your '08. Then you'll be better informed about the games they play.

2003 Z06 - 30,000 Miles - Wholesale Prices
Rough $26,500
Average $28,800
Clean $31,000
08/09/07 NEVADA Regular $27,000 33,628 BLACK
08/08/07 BALTWASH $29,700 15,894 BLACK
07/18/07 DALLAS Lease $30,000 16,028 BLACK

And dealers don't pay clean wholesale on trade-ins especailly for a 30,000 mile '03 vette unless they don't know what they're doing and by that time they'd be out of business.
Actually, This isnt my first new car, so I know the games they play. I am buying the car in Missouri, and a local dealer where I live is buying my car. And he will be running it as a trade, so when I register my new car in Florida, I still get the tax break. And he has access to the same info you have. I guess he thinks he can sell it for a good profit. Btw, I am getting the new car for $800 under invoice, so I think I am doing ok.

Well, I solved the mystery. When you put the mileage in, and then go down to the options, you can check 50th anniversary, which mine is, and get the higer value. If you dont check it, you get the lower value. I dont know how a badge on a car saying 50th anniversary makes it worth more, but it does.

Yours is a 2003 (and all 2003 cars are "50th Anniversary"), but it doesn't have the 50th Anniversary package (which is what KBB is adding value for), which included maroon paint, gold wheels, seat stitching, etc.

Your paint doesn't look maroon to me.

Yes, I think they are. Hey wait, maybe I have the only one. Ok guys the price is now $45,000. So if somehow you have a 2003 Z06 that doesn't say 50th anniversary on it, then you are screwed. Of course I guess you could go out and buy the badges, and increse you cars value by 4k in about 10 minutes.

On KBB, I checked the z06 box, and then the milage and options came up. 50th anniversary is one of the options under Z06. I really dont care, cause noone on this forum is going to buy it anyway, I already have my trade in price. I just put it out there to see what would happen, and for a good laugh also. I love seeing the "if its still here in a month" posts and the "where was this car 6 months ago" posts The best ones are"if I only had money, I would buy your car". Keep dreaming guys.

P.S. This is America last time I checked so it's an open market. Some people want to sell their vettes quickly at a fair price -- some people are just waiting for a sucker to come along.

No, most of us here on the forum who have $$$ also own vettes. What model do you own? I've owned vettes for most of my driving life and have never bought from a dealer. That's not to say I never will because if they have what I'm looking for at the time I'll buy it even though I'm not trying to get it below wholesale like some here or just kicking tires and critiquing every one's for sale thread^^^^^.
Just like when you recently posted " " regarding someone's asking price of $39,900 for his Z16. What does that do for his thread. Sure he might be too high but that his business if he doesn't get any responses. If you feel you have to comment take to PM's.

They didn't even make that color on the Z did they? If not they should have.

Bought my 04 drom a dealer in Chicago. The salesgirls "rock bottom" price was X. I had a dealer friend of mine call there, and they w/s it to him for 2500 under X, and he sold it to me.

I may need to go through you on my next purchase, and of course I'll throw in a "bird-dog" fee.
