C5 Supply: Is Sept. always this good? anyone notice?
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed, or is it just my perception?
Keeping an eye peeled all year from winter thru late August, there was a fairly steady supply of C5's (I'm look for a Z06).
But When September began, there was a flood!! I am not even looking that hard and I know of 2 cars I'm seriously interested in and at least 3 more that more or less meet my criteria.
Is September always this good because of the '07's?
If I wait is this supply going to dry up?
Thanks

September and October are always this good for price and number of Vettes being sold...Main reason is SNOW If they don't sell them now then have to hold on to them until spring.

Now is a pretty good time to look and next month to buy. People decide they don't want to store them for the winter. Once they get them into winter storage they seem to me like they are willing to hold onto them until the Spring when they think they will get a higher price.

Chevy dealers who were advertising 2004 convertibles. One had one for 34K w/17k miles The other had one with 19k miles for 35k.
Amazing what a little chilly weather will do.

sept. has historically been one of the 3 so called bad months in the car business. The other two being dec (christmas) and april (vacations) Verts and sports cars drop off because of the weather and the other big reason is kids go back to school, college, etc. This might not affect private sales so much but working for a dealership i can tell you it affects our prices. Dealers just want to push iron, plain and simple. they will take a smaller profit on these cars so they dont sit on their floor plan all winter and occur interest.

Update
Another reason why C5's are coming down in price - you may notice for the first time Dealers are now offering big incentives off the C6 models.
Especially the 2006 left overs as the 2007's arrive.
You can get $4,000 - $7,000 off the 2006 Verts MSRP and $2,000- $5,000 off the coups MSRP. Also offering the 2007"s with reductions off MSRP's
The C6's have been out long enough now that GM and dealers are forced to offer kick backs to sell their current inventory.
This will start effecting the C5's resell for the first time. You have C5 owners that have wanted C6's making their moves as well with discounts off the MSRP's. Also selling their C5's to buy a C6.
More and more great deals popping up all over the place - low mile cars at great prices - if you are in the market the time is good to grap one and make a offer.
Just my two cents - market changing.

Life's Short. Drive Hard.
I am in the same boat. Store it, or sell it. By the time I can drive it again after winter we will have a 3 month old baby and a new family car so it has to go at some point.
Whats the best place to advertise? I know forum members know the market best but its a limited audience. eaby? autorader? any advice?
Here it is: MY 02 Z06

I also sold a '91 Z28 on Ebay and that went well too. Give it 3 weeks on the CForum and then if that doesn't work, try the other options you listed. Good luck.

Sept. Vettes
I have been looking for a C5 ,very seriously for about 6months. Have looked everywhere. Bought a 2000 coupe with 15000 miles, two tops, telescoping steering column, memory seats, performance axle, HUD,chrome wheels. I had to pay $26,950. Not cheap but its what I wanted and I will enjoy. Now to my point. I found 3 cars in two days that I would have bought. I cannot believe the number of cars comming to market now. I don't think knowledgeable buyers or sellers will get stung but a fair deal will be brokered, with lots of cars to choose from. I do think if you wait until Dec. a better deal may be found but I think the supply of cars will dry up compared to the selection you have now. Good luck to all the sellers and buyers that are out there now.

It really isn't going to make that much difference. There are usually over 5,000 C5s offered for sale on autotrader alone. There are a raft of other marketing portals for C5s.
You really should have no problem finding what you are looking for at a good price now, in the winter, or whenever. This is clearly a buyers market.

WOW - I priced it a couple grand below what I could have probably gotten if I wanted to sit on it and wait, no advertising anywhere except this mornings for-sale post on this forum, and I have a tentative sale already. Now I will always wonder if I should have asked more...
I get what I need out of it, and the buyer gets a great car. Win Win.
