Help on price: 1995 six speed with 145,000 miles...What do you think???
Hey guys, I'm looking at a 1995 C4 for my father. It's got 145k miles. It's red with black leather interior. It has the FX-3 suspension (just redone) and dual power sport seats. One top and standard rims. Exterior and interior are in excellent condition. I can pick it up for $9,500. Does this sound like a good price??? ANY help will be MUCH appreciated!!! Thanks!

I think it depends on how the car has been kept up. If it's really nice and doesn't need anything, it's not that bad a price. Maintenance records or receipts would be really nice to have so you can see how it's been maintained. The fact that the FX3 system has just been gone through is a good sign... when that breaks a lot of people don't bother to fix it because parts are very expensive. If the owner spent the money to have it fixed then maybe he's the kind of person who maintains the car and fixes things properly.
I wouldn't be concerned about the miles per se, it's the condition and maintenance that are important. Yes, you can count on having to fix things as they break and go bad, but a car with fewer miles will be the same way. You could spend a little more and get a car with lower miles, but I think you'll have a hard time finding a really nice, well cared for '95 six speed with significantly less miles for less than $9500.
Look at it this way: If you said you could get it for $8500 then people would probably be posting about what a great deal it sounds like. What's $1000? Less than it costs to replace all of the FX3 shocks and actuators.

Thanks for the replies, guys!
I don't know what kind of records come with the car, but I'll look into that.
I DO know that the couple that owns the car are both in their sixties and are the original owners.
It sounds like if I was able to get the price down further, around $8,500 to $8,800, it would be a dang good deal. Blackbird, I understand what you're saying, too, about the $1,000 not being a deal breaker.
My main goal is this: I don't want to get my dad to buy something that he's going to lose a ton of $$$ on. I'm thinking this car is a 1996 6-speed. It can't depreciate much further, right???
Thanks for any additional info guys!!!!

My '95 six speed has 120,000 and I would ask for $10,000 only because the car has a nice history.
Offer the guy $8000 and see what happens.

I think the thing to think about when buying a high mile car like that is make sure your really happy with it because it'll be harder to sell then a low mileage unit. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the additional comments guys. I think I'll tell him to pass on it, unless he can get it cheaper.
Vettenet, it is in excellent condition.
Good point, Moto64g.
Thanks Wicked.

If it's a 96 six speed, it'd be an lt4, and that would make a large difference in value...if it's a 95 six speed, it's just a run of the mill lt1

I couldn't believe the prices, when I stopped at Corvette Mike's this weekend(not in my car). He wants $22k for an '88 with 15k miles
Spring has sprung, and so haven't the prices!!
