Hey all,
Well, my wife and I have begun the search for a new "project". It turns out that no matter what I do to the C3, it will still not fit the bill as far as she is concerned. We decided that we couldn't afford a C5, so we care looking at the more exotic C4's. I am partial to the ZR1 and/or later Callaway B2Z cars as I am power hungry! Anyone offering suggestions? I want to stay right around the $30K mark, and right now I am pretty much looking at dealer inventories as I don't want to hassle with selling my car outright. Can anyone offer some direction? Thanks a lot.
You can't afford a C5 but you want to spend 30K on a C4?
I would think you would definitely be able to find a very clean ZR1 for that amount. Don't know too much about the Callaways.
The only C5 we would really be interested in looking at would be a Z06. This puts us out of that range in a hurry. That $30K is more of a ceiling than a target. It just seems that you can find a really nice example and/or a tastfully modified vehicle for the mid-to-upper 20's.
Bryan,
Not quite sure if my '96 LT4 CE fits your requirements, but I thought I might "throw (drive) it into the ring"! I have been recently considering putting her up for sale because I have the itch for a C5!
My signature below has most of the details including a link to my Forum homepage that contains some pictures. My '96 has around 36K miles and is in excellent condition. I also still have all of the factory parts to replace the modifications currently on the car. There are also more items that will go with the car that I can discuss with you if you are interested.
Contact me by email (address in my profile), or IM me and I can provide you with a telephone number to talk to me directly. There are a lot of CorvetteForum members in the Charlotte area that can verify my '96 for you. Plus the price will be well below your $30K ceiling!!!
I would sell her for $20K (pretty firm)! If you look around, there are several LT4 Collector Editions out there with more miles, priced $2,000 to $4,000 higher than I'm asking.
Whether you are interested in mine or not.....GOOD LUCK with your search!!!
My ZR-1 is currently for sale, I am also in your price range. email me at tjzr1@wcoil.com The Z is a black/grey int 1990 with 9,450 miles! I have it listed on the ZR-1 Net for $29,900, but we can talk. Best of luck in your search. :)
i work at a Chevrolet dealership in Missouri and we have an 02 Z06 with 7K miles on it listed at 39,500 and I'm almost positive for the right buyer I could come off that price...it's pretty low as it is :yesnod:
Get the Zr1 ....Its fast , reliable , and you can drive it anywhere....
You,ll have your pick of nice Zr1,s in the mid 20,s range.

I would be the right buyer if you could
a) come off another $9500
b) give me about $15,000 for my car
Where do I sign? Kidding of course, but good luck in your sale!

Right now, I am leaning towards the ZR1 unless I can somehow talk the wife into a Grand Sport (the issues now are the black wheels and the overall attention grabber style ;-)). The early Callaways (unless they are Aerobody) are out because of the wedge-styled rear. I have found a few cars worth looking into a little further, but it is a moot point until I can sell my car anyway. Thanks for the help so far!
