Doug Rippie Motorsports 450 packaged 94 Bright Aqua convertible. DRM performed the following ($20,000): Engine bored and stroked to 460 HP at the crank, suspension upgraded, brakes and rotors, headers, Power Effects exhaust added, new Dual Mass flywheel, CenterForce clutch, 4.09 gears, lowered one inch, ZR1 wheels and drag radials. Six speed transmission was blueprinted by Bill Boudreau of ZR51 ($4,020), Bill's short shifter also added. During a Covette event here in BG, Will Cooksey, plant manager of the Corvette assembly plant, said the car was one of the "sweetest driving, tuned C4's" he had driven. He took it down the track at Beech Bend and it ran in the low 12's. Since then I have added a 150 shot of dry NOS, and the 1/4 mile times are 11.36 @128. IMHO I have never abused the car, even though I have made many passes here at Beech Bend, mainly during Corvette events. I have religiously maintained it and kept it in the garage. Maintenance wise, I replaced the MAF, H20 pump, Optispark, and brake pads in the last two years. It has 30k on the engine, and 69k on the car. I have all receipts including window sticker and cancelled checks. Total expenditures to date, including original cost of the car, not including maintenance, $72,000. Will sell for $26,500. The car is in excellent condition, show worthy, and will beat the pants off any stock ZO6, and most modified. With better hook up, I honestly believe it is a high ten second car. (I asked Doug Rippie what the top speed was for the car and he said 190-195 with the stock rear end.) At the same time, it is a street friendly car. Reason for sale, I am looking to go back to a C2 and away from the performance end of the hobby for awhile. By the way, I don't regret spending the money. I have had a million bucks worth of fun and excitement! Anyone who doesn't get that kind of thrill should spend their money on something other than these cars. (At least that's the rationale that works for me.)
Sounds like a nice car. I have a '95 Aqua Conv. with the DRM 400 and auto. Love the car. Tried to sell a while back. Not one bite. Good luck on your sale. Timing is everything. Maybe you will hit just the right time and person now.
Yea, you're probably right. But I won't be dissapointed. I'm not h.ll bent on parting with it. I have promised it to my daughter upon her graduation from college next year if it doesn't sell, like me she enjoys the track. But I do find it puzzeling, when some owners never know any enjoyment of their Corvettes except shine and show, and not much go. Oh well, different strokes, different values. Just thought some folks might want to enjoy this type of car...it is a blast and not beat up, and does not cost a fortune. By the way, any idea how I can post pictures of it? I don't have a web site, and don't think I can post on the forum. There is a picture of it on the Rippie website, but not a good one.
Black and black. I also have a removable hardtop; two in fact, one has never been assembled or painted. I would like to sell the new, unassembled hardtop too, about $900 should do it.
