Will likely be selling my C4 (need cash) but I want to be certain that I'm giving someone an honest deal.
The following has been done to the car within the last 2 months because it had to:
1) Replaced leaking valve seals (replaced all 4 tho only 1 was leaking)
2) Changed fuel filter
3) Replaced clutch, master cylinder, and flywheel (with a stock GM flywheel)
4) Replaced rotors and brake pads
Still needs to be done:
1) 6spd manual transmission needs looking at. Shifts fine except for 3rd gear-- appears to be a bad syncro. If you take your time shifting 3rd, it shifts fine. If you drive spirited into 3rd it'll yell at you (though it will shift but by the squeal you feel like you exploded your car).
2) Lots of paint chips on front fascia
3) Power antenna & Motor are toast.. Needs total replacement
Car is a 1991 Black C4 with 94000 miles on it and glass top. Aftermarket CD Player (The model is Kameleon). Auto climate control. Driver seat has a ratty tear in it. Rest of cabin in good shape. Tires need replacing.
Hard to say, you describe it kinda like a driver car and average shape.
I would say 7-10k dollars and if you have tranny problems that is very expensive. I would say ask $9,000 and take $8,000. JMHO
I have been thinking about this, the car is in good mechanical shape if you don't include the tranny. Paint has some cosmetic issues but is expected with mileage.
I would try to repair the tranny and then sell it. It might not be that expensive to fix it although I am sure it will cost you at least $1,000-$2,000 if a qualified shop does the work. I would at least ask around and see what it is going cost you to fix it or maybe see if you can find a used one?
Hard to sell the car with it broken plus you will probably never get what the car is worth. However, if you wind up paying a fortune to fix the tranny you will never get the $$ back --- better to keep her then and drive her like you stole it --- JMHO
Well the tranny problem is pretty serious and seat covers/tires aren't cheap either. I would say a 91 6-spd in nice shape with those miles would be worth around 11k. Dunno how much your specific car is worth but I would think it needs ~3k in repair maybe more.
Why didnt you fix you trans when you had it out to do the clutch/flywheel? Has the problem developed within the last 2 months?
