95 Coupe For Sale (DONT BUY IT!)
I recently traded my 95 purple coupe in on a new car, it has since been through a few dealerships and has now landed itself in Northern Virginia at a Saturn dealership.
PLEASE, if you prefer enjoying your corvette instead of constantly repairing it, DO NOT buy this car! The salesmen will lie to you, as they did to me when I called a few minutes ago, about the condition of the car and the previous owner.
They are asking $11,933 for it, and its worth maybe $933.
Just a word of caution.

Re: 95 Coupe For Sale (Bluewasp)
Nope, original motor but it did have the following as problems:
Transmission failures, resulting in one new trans and one rebuild.
Brake failures, left rear warped rotors and chewed pads monthly.
Leaks during rainstorms, nobody likes a wet tush.
Tuning, what I thought fixed the 2-3 shift problem, didnt work, its still there.
And the biggest problem with it was....
Drivability, motor would run fine for awhile, then run on what felt like 2 cylinders, for no reason and then it would perk back up and run fine again.
PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and pass this car up, dont even look at it, dont call on it, just leave it be.

Re: 95 Coupe For Sale (CorvetteTom)
I wouldnt so much call it a "good" deal but they were able to get me out of it, since I was soo much upside down, and put me into a new car while still lowering my monthly payment. I think I did ok.
With the help of Cooper Corvette's, they gave me $9000 for the car. Not bad considering the problems it had.

Did you tell them of the problems when you traded it in?

Of course, I am honest in all aspects.
The dealership really wanted to put me into a new car and they did, while saving me a LOT of money in the process.

I don't understand the transmission failures...
They put a re-man in and then a new transmission and they both failed...
some thing else must be causing it..

Re: 95 Coupe For Sale (FrankM)
Here is the skinny on my transmission issues:
Bought the car, wanted more performance, added a Vigilante 2800 converter.
car felt great, put 100 break-in miles on the car, then decided to do a WOT run which felt great, for a few seconds. Car never made it to second gear, hit the rev limiter, car wouldnt move. Decided to order a Yank Sportsman Pro transmission, which I thought would cure the problem. Put the new converter in, with the new transmission, car shifted 1-2 just fine, but wouldnt go into 3rd at WOT, had to lift up to almost half pedal. Went through hours of tuning and nothing helped. Lowered shift points, raised the rev limiter, no help. Called Yank, who was no help, but told me to replace the filter and add new fluid. OK, it would shift to third now at WOT, but it took 2-3 seconds!! And after 3-4 attempts, it went back to not shifting at all. Soo, decision was made to put the stock converter back in, and the problem was still present until the Yank transmission took a dump just like the stock one. So, I got a rebuild and that cured all but one problem, the 2-3 shift. Before I got rid of it, the rev limiter was set at 6500rpm and the 2-3 shift point was at 70, stock is 77.
$3000 later in transmission costs, $1000 in converter costs, and over $1000 in labor costs, its someone else's problem now. Hopefully the junkyard!!

Yes, if you never plan on driving it hard or racing, and just plan to drive it occassionally, then its a GREAT automobile. But, I buy cars for daily drivers not paperweights so it didnt fit my purposes. But thats just me.

As for letting the purchaser know of the car problems... I wonder why you didnt state similiar info, when posting for sale to us? http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=555063 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=461625

Re: 95 Coupe For Sale (Phil-tha-Rush)
I figured it wouldnt be long before this topic came up...
When I was trying to sell it, thats when I was putting the most money into the car. At the times it was for sale, the car was 100%. And I would have certainly told the buyer, before even LOOKING at their money, about the problems with the car. If they decided to back out of the deal, no harm done.
I wasnt nor will I ever try to "snow" someone.

Re: 95 Coupe For Sale (dans86)
Somebody bought the car yesterday, the last selling price the dealer had advertised was $14,200.
If ANYONE on here is the purchaser of this car, bought from Saturn of Manassas in Virginia, TAKE IT BACK!
Thank you for your time.

Hey lighten up already. Anyone who buys ANY used car from a dealer without checking it out deserves what he gets. You got rid of the car, now fuggetaboutit!
