Anybody know whats going on with c4 owners lately? Every person that contacts me, and every c4 within a 300 mile radius wants $10k+ for 100k mile cars.. I sold my mint condition 94 w/54k on it for 9000 a few months ago when I didn't have the garage space and it took me 3 months to sell it at that price. Now that I'm trying to acquire another one, everybody wants double what their car is worth! I just wish people in my viscinity would be realistic, A 160k mile 92-96 vette is worth 5000-6500 max. A 120k mile 92-96 is worth 5500-7000. 99K= 6000-7800 75K= 6500-8200. 60K=7000-9000. Obviously condition matters. But this is a pretty simple baseline for people to follow, well that is if they actually want their cars to sell. I can't tell you how many vettes I see on craigslist that have been sitting there for over a year because people don't understand that theres only two reasons something doesnt sell, either its junk, or the price is too high. Seriously somebody inform me of a corvette owner who ACTUALLY wants to sell their car near me. Its getting ridiculous. I have "Corvette Wanted' ads on almost every CL major city within 3 hours and people constantly call me with "Hey I got a 180k mile 93 vette, paint sucks and it needs work. I'm wanting $10,500" Seriously sir? Goodluck owning your car forever. And when I make them a realistic offer (dictated by corvetteforum average pricing), they get offended. I mean these cars are basically a big motor stuffed into a fiberglass plastic casing with a radio... not much to them. Great cars and I love owning and driving them but I'm just extremely annoyed at the unavailability of a reasonably priced one in my general viscinity.

Car values
If there are no cars available near you for what you want to pay, then I guess they are worth more than you may wish to think. Supply and demand my friend. Just because you want a great deal doesn't mean somebody is going to "give" it to you. I am looking for a clean CE, and I wish I could find one close to me for less than I am finding also. I will probably end up buying one for more than I would like to, if I really want it. Or sit here and gripe about how high they are and not get one at all. I was thinking ZR1 for a year or so, until I changed my mind. I saw the prices creep up quite a bit. Could have had a couple of pretty nice ones for 12-15k 2 years ago. Now I can't find a nice one for much less than 20K. In the meantime I have decided to buy a CE. They aren't real cheap either, if they are a low mile clean car, but I have resigned myself to pay a little more for a good one. Life moves on, I'm getting older by the minute and I want to enjoy now. Good luck.

I have seen the same C4's on eBay over and over again for the last 6+ months and they haven't sold. One I keep looking at is coming up on being for sale for a year... the price actually went UP some. The original eBay listing at no reserve (no bids) is cheaper than the current Buy it now.
The issue is the prices from just the beginning of last year to now have plummeted but many C4 owners don't want to believe it. When you can pick up a ZR1 for the low teens the regular Corvettes just aren't going to sell for that as well. If a car has been for sale for more than a couple months it should be dropped from price comparisons. The cars that have sold have done so at historically low prices.
I know of recently:
a 91 coupe with 80-ish thousand miles that sold for 3 grand.
a 94 vert with 80k sold for 8k
a 95 vert with 85k sold for 8.5k
a 95 coupe with 125k sold for 5k
a 96 collector coupe with 86k sold for 7k
These are all nice cars with little to nothing wrong.

C4 Prices Response
Just received my April 2014 issue of Corvette Magazine. In it is the C4 Buyers Guide. How many of you take stock in the prices they have listed? We have been actively marketing a 1994 Torch Red, Torch Red/Black on another site, CarsOnLine.com for 4 months now. Everyone that calls seems to want you to give them the car because it is a C4 and quote Kelly Blue Book to you. Non Corvette People I Would Guess. Planning to post it in the CF C4 For Sale/Wanted Site now that Spring has sprung.
P.S. This Vette originally came from Oklahoma and was owned by a member of The Tulsa Corvette Club when I purchased it from him in 2009.
PM me back if you are want to talk. Multiple award winner and was winner of Twins Division at LSCC with a Copper Metallic Coupe in 2012.

Safety Car
Nice c4's are becoming a thing of the past, by the time you find a nice one and make it right, in my case making it run and look right, it costs.
As you said people want enormous prices, it's because they went out and bought a nice or not so nice c4, then put in the necessary repairs to make it right.
You can still find very low mile nice c4's but they are at c5 prices.
I bought mine because I loved the way a c4 feels when you drive it, but the last c4's I have owned were automatics, and my bad clutch leg is telling me I have to sell mine.
If you want nice unfortunately you have to pay large bucks for it, or buy garbage and build your own.
I wish you much luck in finding a nice one I had to fly to fla and drive mine home then spent months making it the car it is today, and it still isn't 100%.

I have a '94 Auto Coupe in Black Rose (dark metallic purple) with black interior. Great driver, needs very little. I'm in Chicago but would consider making the trip for the right deal.
PM me if you'd like to know more.

I'm still looking for a vette... I've got a big stack of cash in my folder labeled "Corvette", just sitting there waiting to be spent. I paid $7500 cash for my last Corvette, a white on black 1994 Coupe w/ 54,000 miles in immaculate condition, so keep that in mind when sending me offers, but I have this cash here just waiting for a Corvette owner with the right car at the right price and now that its summer I'm ready for something fun.
